Re: Rollerski Length

In my completely unqualified opinion, longer is better. This is based on pretty much nothing but the musings of a aging brain, but I use Rollerskishop's pursuits ( kinda short) and the newer Roillerskishop skis (the ones with the red wire suspension forks) which are longer: the longer skis are much ...

Re: Is V2 necessarily more difficult?

So for us Americans: gear one is herringbone skate; gear two is V1; gear three is V2; gear four is V2 alternate; gear five is free skate? NO wait! sorry, I think I've got it backwards. I've got forwards? No just gear three is V1 alternate? Wait, I'm really getting confused! Ah, crap just forget it! ...

Re: Therese Johaug doped

Wait! Are you suggesting Saarinen rummaged around in Johaug's trash to find the specific package she used?

Re: Therese Johaug doped

You seem to be missing something called context. Jones, Armstrong et al didn't freely admit to missing a logo on lip balm packaging ( does anyone know for sure it was even there?) Johaug was up front all the way. The dopers that need to be punished, and aren't,employ complex, inconceivable masking s...

Re: Therese Johaug doped

I see you're from Oslo. Sometimes, I wonder if Norwegians, generally, have a real difficulty with the concept of "The punishment must fit the crime." One example: Brevic's 20 year sentence for murdering 80 kids.

Re: The danger of roller skiing

Jeff- I don't think rollerskiing destroys technique at all. Maybe it requires 5-10 minutes first day on snow to adjust kick, but other than that, technique is usually improved dramatically, due to strength/balance gains. I've never fallen because a pebble got stuck between the frame and the wheel ( ...

Re: Therese Johaug doped

I've concluded that Johaug is basically innocent, and that the punishment meted out by FIS/Wada etc, borders on cruelty. Consider: beyond the 18 month suspension and the destruction of her good name, she has lost, what? 10 million dollars in endorsements. Probably close to that if future deals are c...

Re: The danger of roller skiing

Frankly, I think that anyone rollerskiing 50kph, is absolutely nuts, particularly when cross traffic is possible, and is entitled to whatever happens to him, including the injuries that are likely when T boning a truck at 50kph.

SNS

Does anyone have a good opinion as to how long SNS stuff is going to be available? I'm thinking of stocking up on boots, maybe bindings, while they're still around.

Re: Effects of bindings/boots location on rollerski handling

Skiff- In reading your posts I come across mention of " lifting the rear of the ski." I don't lift the rear of the ski; it just lifts as I transfer my weight, get forward and kick the ski. Are we talking about the same thing? Doesn't seem to be associated with binding location which is a d...

Re: Dry land training

I really don't agree. I've used a tire to stiffen up roller ski interval work outs a lot, and I'm a total, complete old wimp. What I like: It takes a lot more strength; but striding up hill with good technique is still very possible, as is double poling. It's easy to get hips forward with out the fe...

I'm really not very good at philosophy, but could you guys comment on running vs mt.bike riding as training for skiing?
