Knee pads/sleeves

Hi, I've progressed quite a bit on roller skis but still prefer to wear knee protection. For hilly terrain where I know I'm going to hit downhills I use roller blade pads which are bulletproof but a little bulky. For flats where the speed is lower I still use cheapo fabric sleeves that might save me...

Peltonen Zenith skate - opinions?

Hi, I'm looking for something that would perform well in soft and cold conditions. I don't spend a lot of time on snow (live too far from it), so can't justify a really expensive pair. I heard that Zenith is a pretty decent ski, but for what conditions? I don't think it is an advanced enough ski to ...

Bent frames on V2 150 Aero combis

Years ago, I had a pair of old (blue) V2 Aero combis and skated on them for about 3 years, then swapped them for Aero skates. A year ago, I decided to go back to combis for stability and better tracking. Got a pair of new frames (I had the wheels and speed reducers already) directly from Jenex. Btw,...

Re: Rossi Zynex skate – can’t get them to glide

Well, to be perfectly honest, that makeshift hotbox was the space between the storm door with a glass pane and the entrance door. While it gets plenty hot in there, it is never smoking hot, so if anything, there might not have been enough heat. As for waxing, it doesn't seem to make any difference w...

Rossi Zynex skate – can’t get them to glide

Hi, I bought these in 2009 as a basic ski to spend my limited snow time on. I’m 185lbs, the skis are 190cm – the store told me that’s what appropriate for my weight. From the getgo they were real dogs, especially in cold weather, wax or no wax (I don't use fluoros). They did a little better on hard ...

Re: Alpina skate boots (SSK RSK CSK) - what's up with the so

Guys, thank you for your input. I'm still curious how people roller ski in these. One of the boots has a particularly prononced curvature so that when you bring the foot in, a three-part landing follows - first the rear wheel, then the front wheel along with the toe, and then the heel (in a kind of ...

Re: Alpina skate boots (SSK RSK CSK) - what's up with the so

The same issue was posted here http://fasterskier.com/forums/topic/alpina-skate-boots-whats-up-with-the-toes/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It sounds odd that the boot sole would be curved. I can't remember ever seeing that. If you look at pictures on Alpina's website they look fla...

Re: Alpina skate boots (SSK RSK CSK) - what's up with the so

I've been looking for the LVFs (older models), but just as with Alpina ESKs, I'm not shelling out upwards of $400. I'm not that good. The pair of regular Xiums that I did try on was a rare find at about $200. I understand that top-level boots may be the solution, but my point is that other mid-range...

Alpina skate boots (SSK RSK CSK) - what's up with the sole?

Hi, I've been trying to find a replacement for my old and tired entry-level Rossi skate boots. Over the recent months, I've tried a bunch of boots. Started with Rossis thinking they would be the closest match and was totally put off by poor heel retention and humongous toe box in X-10 and even xiums...

V2 Aero Skate or Combi?

I use V2 Aero Skates that are probably not going to last much longer. I also happen to have one Combi shaft lying around - broke a fork on the other one a while ago when I was still figuring out roller skiing. Since I have the wheels and speed reducers, I thought I'd look for just the new shafts. I ...

Re: V2 aero inner tubes: bustin' all their stems!

At 180lbs, I'm surprised you haven't had problems with 125s before. I think I've read somewhere that their limit is 165lbs. Your issue seems to be related to pumping - not sure what's going on. I use aero 150s, and for the last couple of years I've been replacing tubes and tires myself (i.e. a lot o...
