Re: Your favorite free software?

I can find plenty of evidence on the internet that the world is flat...that doesn't make it true. "Researching" by yourself using the internet is likely to just confirm whatever uninformed bias you already have, not necessarily bring forth any truth.

Re: Skin ski, what to get?

Next years Salomon skin is the pair I was talking about. This years doesn't have that high camber fast feel that next years does. You may find the same problem you had with the r-skin with next years top end ski though as it's somewhat difficult to kick

Re: Swix Triac 3.0 pole

Do they really need a tool for removal or just something to push the strap end insert off the handle? I was thinking about these yesterday when I put new Swix straps and noticed that there is even less extra strap material (and thus adjustability) than before. You only have about an inch of extra s...

Re: Swix Triac 3.0 pole

I used them a fair amount in February. The pole shaft is exactly the same as the 2.5
The weight savings is actually in the grip. They felt nice, not revolutionary but very good. You actually need a tool to remove the straps and they do not have any adjustment ability which helps cut weight

Re: Skin ski, what to get?

Higher camber is how I would describe it.

Generally camber height is:

Hard wax around .9 to 1.2
Hard Wax/klister cover 1.2 to 1.4
Klister 1.4 to 1.7

I tried the pink ski I believe

Re: Skin ski, what to get?

That ski, r-skin race, will come with the Turnamic plate vs the NIS that it is shown with. I skied them recently and they were a nice upgrade from the r-skin. It is built using the Xium model ski vs Delta. I had a chance to ski all of the brands and I felt like the top end Salomon, Madshus and Rossi...

Re: Pole Handles Curved...Why?

Just promise me that you won't use the jazz hand release at the end of your poling phase. It's incorrect technique that causes you to lose control of your poles and it looks dumb.

Re: Birkebeiner Course Info

i think they have been completely transparent that the chance of holding a ski event is slim. I admire that they have kept the door open to holding an event if this snowstorm pans out. Ben Popp, the Birkie Director, said there was a 1% chance they would hold a mass race. I think if that isn't enough...

Re: Birkebeiner Course Info

It's pouring at my house in Minneapolis. I think if it's like this up North there is a good chance the race is toast.

Re: TURNAMIC - Rossignol And Fischer Partner To Create New Binding System

Will it be worth the upgrade or is Turnamic more of a convenience upgrade and not so much of a performance upgrade from the current non-turnamic systems? Seems like more so convenience. If you buy a new 2017/18 model year Fischer ski next year, I bet it will come with a Turnamic plate. Therefore th...

Re: TURNAMIC - Rossignol And Fischer Partner To Create New Binding System

I meant one spot ;) You'll have to try it next season and see/ determine for yourself OK, then I see; that was what I tried to say earlier. Yes, I am looking forward to try the binding. I would like to do so also on my roller skis. I have written to Fischer asking them if there will be separate mou...

Re: TURNAMIC - Rossignol And Fischer Partner To Create New Binding System

OK, so is it just the single catch of the binding that reduces the stiffening of the ski flex, and not that the plate itself is able to in a free way bend longitudinally in relation to the ski? No it's the fact that the plate is not one long strip but that it is 2 pieces and that the binding is hel...

I'ts the entire system that is an upgrade. Ski, plate and binding. Just putting the binding on an old ski isn't g...
