Re: Is V2 necessarily more difficult?

So it is the hardest but it also seems like there are a few good tricks to becoming stable with it. The balance is the big thing. The main trouble w the balance is probably that it's unnatural to have that particular syncopated rhythm on each side. The up-down of the arms on each side. So the trick ...

Is V2 necessarily more difficult?

Neuro asked about it as an aside in the Rollerski section but I thought I'd bring out in its own thread. I suppose V2 is indeed the hardest move but it is also very reasonable to master then once you have it and have acclimated to it it then feels rock solid and pretty easy. Whattaya think? **** Her...

Re: Can I imitate pole-crunches with elastic bands?

I know it's a decent drill or trick on snow, but what about my training with elastics? Why doesn't it seem like I'm doing work? Like, I don't fatigue when doing it. Yes, the elastic once stretched pulls me back upright but I still have to "drop" down against the tension. So why is there no...

Can I imitate pole-crunches with elastic bands?

It seems like there's a recommended exercise for doublepoling which is to just do crunches with the poles but don't do any arm action. Just cradle the poles and work on propelling yourself that way. There's a fair bit of ab crunch and torso compressing in poling so let's train that. It seems fun to ...

Do all top rollerski racers also race on snow?

Is rollerski racing enough of its own separate sport that it sees some elites who do not do snow skiing? Or is that crazy.

Re: How's the season going?

I find that V2 is only hard when I'm doing it wrong. :) My view is that it is NOT longer glide on each side. It's often a move used on a slight uphill. If you're tipping to the outside work on weighting your big toe -- even just visualizing this. But also I found that when I changed to carbon poles ...

Re: New racing technique

Klaebo's technique is not new. High School skiers have been doing it around here for years. Jay It's gotta start somewhere then break out. I just read how Siitonen was skating on the World Loppet circuit when Koch who was just visiting the scene noticed it and dialed it in further then brought it o...

Re: The danger of roller skiing

I think that is due to poor skiing technique. The problem has nevertheless been addressed by e.g. German brand Skirol: http://skirol.de/. How does this address the problem? It looks like there is another roller in front of the binding. ? By being the wheel with the ratchet. That wheel is not in con...

Re: New racing technique

I enjoy a unique herringbone technique that's faster than herringbone, but it's not legal for classic racing. But it is not skating. It involves striding and gliding but to each side with zero skate or edging aspect. It does let one get grip from an angled ski which has a lower incline and thus bet...

Re: The danger of roller skiing

Jeff- I don't think rollerskiing destroys technique at all. Maybe it requires 5-10 minutes first day on snow to adjust kick, but other than that, technique is usually improved dramatically, due to strength/balance gains. ... Possible. ...But the typical ski has not been HELPING ones kick all during...
