Re: Sauze d'oulz (Italy)

Just in case it is useful to know for anyone, there was no xc in Sauze despite the brochure talking about 10k. I had to get two buses to Claviere where I could pick up the trail to Montgenevre but it was really just a golf course type track and the next trail was closed as they were building a swimm...

For Sale - Roller skis in UK !

Hello, I am sadly selling my roller training skis due to not having the time or a safe place to use them. They are Start Combi with a ratchet wheel on the back (back wheel will only roll forwards) in fluorescent yellow with Salomon bindings. Not used much due to circumstances. £90 plus shipping, whi...

Thank you for your lovely pictures ! What a beautiful blue trail ! Have to confess to heartache here in snowless West England though. Am off to Italy for Easter and hoping for snow on my trails........

Re: classic ski length for sensitive, warm fuzzy, zeolot ski

There must be a knack to it because I sometimes do and sometimes don't step on my tails when herring boning. I am a solid five foot seven and I use 200cm - video resources anyone ??

Re: Please feel very sorry for me :-(

We tried to look for somewhere else but because of the time of year we need to be up high and because it still had to be with the same company everywhere suitable was either booked or too expensive. If it was just me going, I would go to Norway instead but with three alpine skiiers, one of whom woul...

Re: How bad for performance are scratches on bases?

Thanks for your advice !
We tried the waxing thing but it was not much better. Given how little each year I get to ski I think it was the scratches as I ended up on some rough stuff a few times and the undersides look roughed up.

Re: New XC Ski resource website

Great idea, would you like what we have in the UK ? We have some roller ski clubs and a few retailers, also I think there is the odd holiday company though I have not used then as they seem to cater just for adults. Nice to have a list with the nationality of link on it, I spent ages trying to sort o...

Re: Please feel very sorry for me :-(

Thank you for your kind words ! It is quite a long drive round the other side of the mountains but we are in discussion with the holiday company as they use the same phrase to describe the facilities at Seefeld in Tirol where there is world class xc ! Just got new skis as well. :x Just shows how UK ...

Please feel very sorry for me :-(

I live in England where there is zero snow and my family have just booked and paid for a holiday to Sauze d'Oulz at Easter where there were supposed to be xc trails but it turns out they are nowhere near, possibly too low down, and a car drive away. As I am solo, have to meet kids after ski school, ...

Re: How bad for performance are scratches on bases?

My waxless Triple Crown that are ten years old have started to lose their glide and I would have to say that the scratching is the cause. We tried in filling and general waxing but when I got a new pair of the same model the difference was very noticeable. I am saving the old ones for the UK where i...

Re: Hi from Heidelberg

Hello from the UK ! You will not regret taking up cross country, I love it and it is so versatile - no heavy boots or skis and plenty of great scenery. I do occasionally struggle sweating through the wilderness but only because I have loitered too long in the shops in Mittenwald and need to get back...

Re: What's needed in a Classic boot?

I like an ankle cuff for that extra support when I am tired and for when the snow is deeper though I do use a lower cut boot on warmer days or on the race circuit.

Sauze d'oulz (Italy)

Can anyone tell me what the tracks are like in Sauze d'oulz please ? I am reading conflicting reports varying from no track through to imminent FIS world cup events and that the French team use the area to train in ! I ski solo due to my family all being Alpine skiers so am anxious to know what I am...

Re: Describe skis! : ) Fisch, Rossi, Atom, Salo, Pelt, Mad.

I like Fischer Triple Crown waxless as they seem to be versatile when I want to up the pace or ski out of the grooves. I did go over to Rossingnol but gave them away to a teenager who had no skis and bought another pair of triple Crown. It is a pain buying skis in the UK so it has to be done while o...
