Re: 1000 cheating Russians

Wow, what a left field, presumptuous and prejudicial post. I meant my post as a compliment to the nordics, but it did not work, so I take it back and start over: the nordic confined, self-congratulatory and satiated existence (see "hygge") stripped you of critical thinking ability, and le...

Re: 1000 cheating Russians

It's so bizarre. Is there any proof? All I've seen since the ridiculous claim of 1000 cheating Russians are endless stories of "suspicions". The International Olympic Committee has nothing else to do but to pick on the poor lily-white Russians. Why? Because IOC just "doesn't like Rus...

A few fun facts about the Arctic: 1. Arctic sea ice has expanded since 2012 despite what you read online.https://realclimatescience.com/2017/10/ ... e-by-2012/ 2. Greenland surface ice is at an all-time high. https://www.dmi.dk/en/groenland/maaling ... ss-budget/ 3. Those adorable polar bears are n...

Re: Therese Johaug doped

I see you're from Oslo. Sometimes, I wonder if Norwegians, generally, have a real difficulty with the concept of "The punishment must fit the crime." One example: Brevic's 20 year sentence for murdering 80 kids. You see, here in Europe some people and nations believe that if you keep on c...

Re: How's the season going?

How often and for how long do you do it?

I started about 6 months ago and initially was doing it 2-3x / week.
After a few months I made a substantial progress, and currently am in the maintenance phase when I do it 1 or 2x per week.

Re: How's the season going?

Then pilates may suit you better than yoga. They achieve similar goals but in a different way. Yoga has a lot of uncomfortable, static stretching. In pilates, you stretch a muscle by contracting the opposite muscle: ex stretch hamstring through contraction of the muscles in the front of the leg. It ...

Re: Got a boat

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ True, even if you are just a kayak owner. Did you hear this one: "What are the 2 happiest days in boat-owner's life? The day he buys the boat, and the day he sells it" :D How about this one: "The enjoyment of the boat is inversely proportional to the...

Re: ROLLER SKI AND RUNNING

Pat: while roller-skiing and running are related, they are not equal as far as their fitness impact. Running is an inherently hard sport - even a slow run is a noticeable effort for most athletes. OTOH, on roller-skis it is easy to crank mile-after-junk-mile at HR of 130-140 (barely above fast walki...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

unless I can make a cuff that rolls like the Ski Skett. Would that solve your problem? Do you have a drill at home? If so, first determine the fore/aft location for the roller. Does the upper vertical arm of your Jenex brake already have holes in the right place? Otherwise, can you lightly bend the...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

So you've tried all the low-hanging fruit to no avail. Time for out-of-the-box solutions.... Example: buy a can of herring, eat the fish, throw away the can, save the metal top. Round the top, so it matches the profile of the boot. Attach the top to the boot the best you can (duck tape, double-sided...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

It's not really the arm that's the problem as much as the cuff itself which will scrape the boot The cuff scrapes the boot when you press the boot against it to apply the brake? Then you need to tinker with the cuff...change its shape, add/remove padding... hampered by lack of testing Exactly. They...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

Maybe I should make a custom roller thingy like the Skiskett and put on the Jenex? But how? Dissassemble the vertical arm of Jenex brake. Using a piece of thick cardboard, pencil and razor, make a template of the same length and with bolt holes in the same locations, but one that properly curves, j...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

That's a good long way on one pair of skis Current V2 model, unlike one from early 2000s is sturdy and heavy. That's a good thing IMHO - if you want speed you should not be using these rollerskis. About the replacement tire, where did you find it, and did you run it for long? I bought these: https:...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

About inflatable tyres and wheels, what's your opinion on the Jenex ones? I would rate my experience with Jenex wheels, tires and tubes at 4.5 out of 5, so overall very good. I have ~3K km on them so far, though very little recently. 1. Wheels: do the job. Most of the work is done by the front, rat...
