Re: Crossover roller blading, roller skiing and skating

Blades are fine. But keep in mind to simulate in your head proper ski technique. Use poles also and do step turns in the corners etc. I still use then on a twisted path with grads and sometimes walkers. More maneuverable to not hit them and you can go off trail if you have to.. Bought my first pair ...

Should not have play and slop. Its new gear , take it back and show the problem for replacement.

Re: XC Skis for firm, bumpy trails

I would stick to the snowmobile tracks if it was me. I often go to a local park close to home. If a sled has been around it is way better. I just use classic racing ski's and hard wax. I would stay off the hiking trails and such unless it is powder snow. When those trails get refrozen and some ice y...

Re: How to prevent DP from taking over Classic?

At the World Cup level it will take rules. At the recreation level and weekend warrior level. It will not take over classic. It can't ,most people including myself are not strong enough to double pole a distance event . I have watch video of old farts trying to DP the Vasa Loppet. Entertaining.

Re: Peter Lougheed park (Alberta)

Free Groomed trails. Nothing like that in South Ont. Probably the highest trail fees going for good skiing hear. $20 to $30 for a day pass. Hardwood Hills , Horseshoe Valley. Scenic Caves, Highlands Nordic. Good grooming but you pay for it.

Re: Best easy glide for zero deg F ???

Yes the old start green. Hard as nails. I always scraped it but I read somewhere you are not suppose to. Kind of a hard surface to glide on. Any one try it un scraped in real cold conditions ?

Re: Best easy glide for zero deg F ???

I really question if that stuff would hold up for skate ski's doing any kind of distance Montana.

If the spring works it is your technique that is off.

Always found classic was faster up steep hills if waxed perfect and the track is good. Grade just prior to having to herring bone.

Re: Road rage against rollerskiers

I stopped using roads years ago. Rail trail with large air filled tires or parks now with hard wheels. We are not vehicles and if you get cracked legally you should not be on the road. Sorry just the hard facts.

Re: Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

One good thing Ontario has done is make it real hard to own a pitt bull. Lots of regulations and extra cost, and a muzzle is required when in public.

Hardly a attack. Looks like the squirrel ran across the track got all confused turned back and ran up what it thought was a tree.
