I hope they vote her to carry the flag during the closing ceremony. She deserves it!

Re: Women's Relay

She is more of a sprinter (classic sprinter). If the course was flatter with more DPing should would have been right up there. I think the amount of classic climbing was the issue; however, she earned a spot fair-and-square. I would have placed her #3 and Randel #1. Hindsight is 20/20.

Re: Any Olympic skiers going to be at Birkie? Or elite Germans?

Hey now, Bjorn Daehle and Vegard Ulvang have skied the American Birkebeiner :) Sure it was post-retirement. I do not know anything about what Northug is up to. Not retired, but not racing much... hiatus? I should edit my post - IMO Northug should ski in Cable, WI - it would be great exposure for th...

I was thinking of the real Birkebeiner - I certainly wouldn't expect Northug to show up in Wisco.

What about Northug - he was left off the Norwegian team. If there is ever a year to do it, this would be it!

Re: Can u believe?!

76 degrees in Nordic Virginia yesterday. A whopping 5 inches of snow of the entire season! 96 inches for the season 3-hours away in WV but their snow is melting fast. Another 70+ day is in the forecast for next week. That is quite high summer temperatures here in Sweden. How long is winter normally...

Re: Do we still need tracks?

Watching the women's finals, it seemed liked they were out of the tracks quite a bit.

Question - is it easier to DP in or outside of the tracks?

Importance of the "right" Wax During Olympics!

Let's be honest - maybe 6-8 countries have the waxing budgets to truly be competitive at this level. I think this is part of the reason why nordic skiing will always have a limited audience. A race should NOT be determined by the size of a countries waxing budget. It seems like classic skiing is eve...

Re: Spoiler Alert: Sprint Final

it seemed like several were running up and maybe also some women? maybe it relates to steepness and is a new formula. As a hill gets steeper maybe now they like to transition like this: DP > KDP > striding > running > herringbone During the women's final there appeared to be a subtle glide going up...

Spoiler Alert: Sprint Final

Klæbo just runs up the hills. Are they waxing with glide on the ends and a super sticky (like spiderman sticky) wax pocket in the middle that will grip no matter what? I guess they're using super cold skis so during the glide phase that super sticky wax is never in contact with the snow? Only during...

Re: What is a good ski glove for touring down to 10°F?

For me, anything under 25F and I need a full mitten. My hands get cold easily. I mostly use the Leki shark system and in the past Leki made a mitten for the shark system but not anymore. What I'm looking for is perhaps an over mitten - like a shroud that would fit over the grip so you can still wher...
