Re: SNS

I'm thinking about giving the SNS system a try. In retrospect I should have started with SNS. For what I hear, they snap back and provide better control and confidence.

Re: How's the season going?

I've suffered a strange running injury that has limited my running to only 10-15k per week, So I've been skierg/rollerskiing about 90-100k per week all summer. Almost 100% DPing. I'm trying to get the timing down for kick/double pole but its tricky. I think I might be going too fast for it to be eff...

Re: ROLLER SKI AND RUNNING

Yes, both concept 2. best money I every spent. You and purchase both the rowing erg and skierg for about the price of a crappy treadmill - no brainer!

Re: ROLLER SKI AND RUNNING

I agree that running and nordic skiing are a great match. Another great match to nordic (especially double poling) is rowing! Rowing is almost the perfect opposite exercise of double poling yet the rhythm is similar. One of my favorite workouts is 3x5k or what I like to call the "hour-of-power&...

Re: Hypothetically: Pneumatic a Faster Wheel?

If you were building a fast rollerski with zero resistance, would a pneumatic "air" wheel be the fastest set-up? Perhaps a harder compound wheel like what inline skaters use? Being able to soak up the bumps should be a factor as well as weight and wheel size. Thoughts? Very interesting qu...

Re: Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

I discovered the Bermuda Triangle of rollerskiing, Dog---Rollerskier---Dog. Whenever possible, do not get between two dogs on a narrow trail...highly unpredictable! Ouch, what happened? Were you bitten? The two dogs attacked each other so both owners leashes were stretched across the path like a cl...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

I think using the poles in the front would be both easier and more effective. On a bicycle the front brake does all (or most of) the work (same with cars). I use the jenex brakes, which generally do the job. I like the fact that its "right there" so I can start braking quickly if needed. T...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

I had my first flat (V2 Aero RC 150) last week. I had a good streak going, about 2-years on the dot. the tires are getting pretty bald so I'm in the process of switching out all the tires. Will you use the Jenex tire changing station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EX_YA-5Bohs or maybe these tools...

Re: Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

I just try to get off the multi-use pathway by 0830 which is usually before the dog walkers are out in force.

Do dogs go nuts for inline skaters or skateboarders?

Re: Happy Feet Make All the Difference!

Nice to hear, Dave, that you have found a good solution. If I understand you correctly it is important to get an insole (if needed) that raises heel and toes equally so the angle of the foot isn't changed. Exactly! And most 'off the shelf' insoles will increase the heel drop - thereby throwing off ...

Happy Feet Make All the Difference!

I cannot tell you how happy my feet are since I inserted a new insole in my boots. No more pain in my arch...stability goes way up and my power and speed are up substantially. The trick is finding an insole that will not change the "heel-to-tow drop" of your ski boots. Most insoles will ad...

Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

What is it about rollerskis that makes every single dog in Northern Virginia lose its mind? I've been told by "dog experts" that it's a combination of the loud clanking noise from the pole and the never seen before "gait" of a rollerskier. The little yappy dogs are the worse but ...
