Re: How to promote rollerskiing?

when I visited the page, one of the first thing I saw was a picture of girl with massive scrape up her whole side That is impressive! I've had about 3 accidents rollerskiing, all painful. I normally wear a helmet and elbow pads as I once landed very heavily on my elbows and chest. I used to do a lo...

Re: Bonking in the cold

There were a lot of DNFs at today's (cold, wet and windy) Boston Marathon. Yes, but this year's DNF rate of 4.5% isn't all that different from last year's 3.0% rate. I think the the DNFs got more press coverage this year because of the horrifyingly unpleasant weather. More statistics: this year's D...

Bonking in the cold

There were a lot of DNFs at today's (cold, wet and windy) Boston Marathon. In my 30 years of endurance training I've experienced my fair share of bonks and nothing is quite as bad as bonking when its cold & wet outside. I've never bonked on skis but I've bonked during a long, cold bike ride and ...

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

I guess this is why the IOC would not allow Anton Shipulin to compete. I just wonder what is known about Ustiugov? Of course FIS and IBU are two separate organizations but still, maybe someone knows something that is not out in the open (yet)?

Re: How to promote rollerskiing?

I think universal brakes and a design where the wheels are low maintenance but can roll over anything without being hazardous. I like the Jenex RC models but hate pumping up the tires. Something with a big & wide wheel diameter but not pneumatic. Keep the overall design light.

Re: Falun women's pursuit - whoa

What a great season for Jessica, and Sadie has a great weekend! I feel bad for Weng - clear over racing syndrome but at least she earned a nice constellation prize as 2017-18 World Cup Champion!

Re: Your best explanation of XC skiing?

I think XC skiing is foreign to most Americans because what percentage of Americans live in an area when you have 60-days (just 2-months) of consistent snow cover. Probably less than 2%. How many are within 1-hour drive? Maybe 5%. This is why introducing rollerskiing as a gateway to on snow XC skii...

Re: FORCED striding in classic events?

With any sport, more rules (and therefore human intervention) always negatively impacts the sport. If they want more striding zones then strategically place harder hills on the course - this will force striding.

Re: Your best explanation of XC skiing?

"Skiing is like flying without wings. It's rhythm, gliding and payoff -- you're getting out more than you're putting in. And with XC you get all this up the hills, too, and everywhere there's snow. It's like dancing over the snow. Like ice-skating over the landscape." Jeff - you just desc...

Re: American Birkie 2018

Hang in there Jay - no never know how you will feel 6 months from now. My dad was had issues with afib about 12 years ago - he was in his early 60's. He is a very active person and serious runner. The afib really put a dent in his running for about 6 years. He had several ablations and started takin...

Re: Rowers

Rower here - at least a former sculler. The C2 rowing ergometer is the best investment you'll make. If you have a weak back or inflexible hips I'd recommend getting the dynamic C2 rower or the normal C2 rower + slides.

Re: 50k results -- Sweden?

Bad olympics for Heidi Weng. I thought she'd walk away with at least two medals.
