Re: Roller Skiing Area in Central Pennsylvania

I used my classic V2 XLA9848 skis -- worked well. As far as pictures go -- the links that I included have many pictures included and are true representations.

Roller Skiing Area in Central Pennsylvania

Hi Folks -- last week I did a trip up to central Pennsylvania area with the intent of mostly roller skiing the Pine Creek Rail to Trail. For some of you on this site who live in the Northern Virginia area this might be a good option to explore. I know I will definitely go back to that area again. So...

Re: Classic Rollerskis that can Handle Variety of Surfaces?

Well I seem to have pretty good luck on those type of surfaces with V2 XLA9848 skis that I use. Not so sure about expansion joints on sidewalks but certainly seem to roll over sticks/rocks well enough and do really well on packed paths. I'm not much of an asphalt cruiser -- I do but mostly in parkin...

Re: Double Poling Question

Well I think I figured out what my issue is. I had started pushing my foot a lot further forward than I previously had when doing diagonal strides. I think I've been over striding and putting pressure on the upper hamstrings/glutes. Corrected that today on a pretty intense roller ski session and thi...

Re: Double Poling Question

Thanks Gents -- I'm going to throttle back on the double pole kick and just keep in the with the classic stride and double pole -- along with the other stuff I do. I appreciate the comments and the analogies. Well here is to keeping the fires burning and always learning -- I appreciate the advice an...

Re: Double Poling Question

I need to correct my question -- it is not double poling but double pole/kick that is the question. So sorry for misstating the issue.

Double Poling Question

Howdee -- have any of you folks noticed that if you ever pick up any injuries/body tweaks from double poling? I really enjoy double poling both roller skiing, actually skiing, and even on the Skierg. The reason for my question is that I'm also a competitive runner and I have noticed that I've recent...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

Well yeah I have been out a lot. Mostly on a cinder track behind a local school that works out well doing classic on. I'll rotate laps doing double poles, double pool kick and straight kick and glide. My V2 XLAs work well on that surface. I am planning on doing a camping trip next month up to centra...

Re: Skierg with Rollerskis?

Dave -- is your Skierg wall mounted or do yo use the platform? Interested in your technique of using the slide board booties. I have a portable plastic slide board and may try to figure that technique out for the DP kick. Thanks.

Re: How to promote rollerskiing?

Can any pair of roller skis, either skate or classic, be fitted with very slow bearings which would hopefully cut out some portion of the speed? Myself I'm just looking to get the hard workout in and slow speeds with hard effort is fine. So my question is can most roller skis be retrofitted with slo...

Re: Skierg with Rollerskis?

Yeah interesting. I have been very happy with my Skierg and the varied workouts I do on it. So not actually using the roller skis but a variety of different foot moves and double pole, double pole kick, free style, classic and having been a former competitive kayaker, I have found that sitting on a ...

Re: Bonking in the cold

Dave -- well I'd say the worst I had was during the JFK 50 Miler Trail Run when I started to run out of gas with about 15 miles to go. Cold and wet too which brought the issue on quicker plus legs giving out. I can't say I really recovered after finishing until I was warm and dry for a couple hours ...

Re: Jay Peak, Vermont

Lew -- Is there one particular Nordic Center in Vermont that you would recommend to plan a ski vacation around? I usually take a trip once a year to ski other than where I live. Usually I go to the Tug Hill Plateau are in New York because they get a lot of great snow off of Lake Ontario. So if you w...
