Re: Roller Ski balance skills

I think it is a fear issue with landing flat or even slightly on the outside edge of the roller ski. I know this well. Have almost fallen several times getting on the outside edge with my misaligned Jenex V2 XL98RM, then after that it's playing it too safe on the inside edge. But do you have good b...

Re: ROLLER SKI AND RUNNING

Interesting the running technique benefits from rollerskiing, but makes sense.

I too wonder why not more people are rollerskiing as skiing is regularly in the news as best exercise for dieters, I guess maybe people find it too risky and don't know there are brakes.

Re: Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

Whatever controversial views have never been voiced publicly. 8) I have seen the police on my path arresting some druggers, and it feels really weird to know that the loose rottweiler who could easily have mauled me and others are not even on their radar, but come in full force for the drugger zombi...

Re: Microwave radiation

Too long lecture, but I have no doubt about the adverse effects of microwaves and have always tried to use a cable or loudspeaker when phoning.

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

Good idea but concerned the aluminum cuff ends might bend as the force on the brake is considerable on the steepest part of my run. I'll check it out. But more and more considering the Rollersafe brake system as they work when wet and on both skis at the same time. (and don't eat boots). Only drawba...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

Cheers, that's interesting. Not quite sure how stable and reliable it is though. Seems it might easily become misaligned when you most need it. Would probably need 2 and then it gets pricey.
Would be interesting to hear some experiences.

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

The main issue here is that the 'throw' of the brake is limited when the contact point is higher than the boot, so I have to have it really close to the leg to get a reasonable effect, and any padding - and I guess the soft metal will be the same - will get caught on the upper part of the boot and t...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

It scrapes during pushoff (skating), and I've tried to have it all angles, higher and lower, and padded. The padding just hooks the boot as it becomes too thick. The best I've come up with is to have it high, above the boot, so I have to push it with the leg. Then it doesn't hook, is immediate and f...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

It's not really the arm that's the problem as much as the cuff itself which will scrape the boot. And you're right, the price to get simple things done in a machine shop here is exorbitant, I've commissioned something at work once. (to make a simple aluminum casing, just bend a plate into a box). I ...

Re: Jenex brakes eating my shoes

It is curved, the picture above is just an illustration. But it doesn't help if it's curved as the whole backside will scrape the cuff during the pushoff, that's the problem.

Maybe I should make a custom roller thingy like the Skiskett and put on the Jenex? But how?

Jenex brakes eating my shoes

No matter how I set the brakes, they will rub the shoes since they have to be relatively close in order to work, and the cuff has an edge. http://i.imgur.com/VApyrNl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wSIx1FB.jpg I've tried to pad the brake cuffs, set them higher, lower, at an angle and all I could think of, bu...

World's most eager skier?

Re: Rollerskis and Dogs Don't Mix!

I see. That can also be painful but good you had brakes to avoid it. On my run today I pass a big black dog sniffing the bushes and just as I pass it sees me and lunges so hard the owner is jerked after, but he managed to control it and lucky I had speed at that point. Got my heart racing I can tell...
