Re: Bonking in the cold
Worst was probably this winter after first snow. Took it easy the first few times but then overdid it to the point where I was actually pretty much finished on the way out.. Dragging the bones 5 km back doesn't sound bad but it was mostly (quite steep) uphill with a lot of herringbone parts and it t...

Another vote for location and protection there.

Re: How to promote rollerskiing?
Yes, location is a big factor although many parks usually have nice asphalted area. But even sidewalks will do yet they are rarely used. Here in Norway grants are given to help build dedicated rollerski tracks and they are coming up surely and steadily. The one pictured below in Sandnes ( Sandnes Ar...

Seems likely. Happened to Bjørgen, Sundby, Kalla and more too.

Marit Bjørgen retires at 38
A natural end to the career. She just wants to spend more time with her kid and possibly have another. The most winning winter olympian of all time, beating Dæhlie and Bjørndalen. She stands with: 4 World Cups 15 Olympic medals (8 gold 4 silver 3 bronze) 26 World Championship medals (18 gold 5 silve...

Re: Innovations in today's rollerskis?
Very interesting with 3-wheel skating, but judging from the video it's not really natural skating. Looks very stilted.
The spring damping is a very good idea although is the same as Rundle' Flex but with rubber. What's nice here is that one can more easily adjust it.

He wanted to continue, but stopped due to a heart fibrillation issue. It was not as much a health risk as how it affects his training, like it did this Olympic season. He stands with: 6 Overall World Cups 20 Discipline World Cups (sprint, mass start etc) 13 Olympic medals (8 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze...

Re: Koukalová to announce retirement...
Big shame as she was a great biathlete and such a star. Super lovely person too.
But I know Czechia went nuts over her and the wear and tear must have been immense (remember Neuner).

Re: skin skis
With skin ski I would say it's especially important to get the ski measured exactly for you, so best to find a good shop and pay the extra. I say that after having had to sell a pair that was measured for me, but where I told them wrongly it was for training when in fact I like to 'walk' just as muc...

Well, I hope your new wiring does the job, Jay. Thanks for the update. +1 https://i.imgur.com/h8x5EGG.gif Maybe I should try to fall in love w an activity that does NOT involve going 110%. I think I saw somewhere that racket sports were one of the best activites for the heart. Not too hard and with...

Skin ski experiences
Had a good long season on my skins (Salomon RC Equipe) in all conditions now, and: POSITIVE: 1. Of course not having to wax and all the mess that goes along with that. Cost of wax too. 2. Consistent grip. My usual course can on certain days have parts that require different waxes (cold shadowy part ...
