Re: Cold winter this time?

Quite good snow in Hochfilzen for the Biathlon event where it's not uncommon to see green grass, so it seems Europe got it this winter. At least the start of it.

Re: Klaebo's Vlog...

Thanks, didn't know about this. Great Vlog, didn't know he was so chatty. In normal interviews he's quite short.

No doubt he's a star both on and off the track. And fun to watch behind the scenes from the 5 World Cup wins on the trot. Sprint and 30km in the same weekend. History being made. :prayer:

Re: Jessie Diggins on SalomonTV

A lovely person and great skier. Image

Shame that the 5 km which she really had nailed is off the World Cup program ATM, but let's see what's next.

Re: Ski trail maps, new and old from Norway

Thanks for informing us about the old ski map from 1890. The world oldest it's said, amazing. I've never heard about it before, but as you say, surprising large network of tracks even at that time. I see now the Frognerseteren area (top part of the Holmenkollen hill in Oslo) was sold to the city of ...

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

Again, FIS don't buy it either. That's why they let the athletes compete in the World Cup, just a temporary ban of a handful of the latest group now, pending their own investigation. Not only FIS, IBU (International Biathlon Union) does not really accept the evidence either. And if the allegations ...

Must add that it's very good by Gear West to gather testimonials and share lessons like that.

Re: Bjørn Løkken skied 50 nordic miles in 48 hours!

Yeah what a crazy record. He said it likely won't be beaten as not many are eager to try.. 8) Interesting he was fine after the run, but some shorter races would leave him worn out for days, so it seems there's a sweet spot where the body works that much better. But your 169 km in 2 days is not bad ...

Re: Skins need sprays? ...What the heck?

Read all the testimonials and conclusions and seems trouble is not skin icing, but when they got soaking wet. The hair would then lie flat and kick would be gone. Very interesting. Most water repelling products worked apparently. Additionally, on an icy and wet course (that got worse for later start...

Re: Skin skis general discussion

Right you are with the Dagbladet test, it's not the top range, and unfair to have the Fischers there. I just saw the headline. Seems the journalists presented the skis to the testers. The xc-ski.de test looks much more relevant. I tried to put the binding forward without much effect, but it only goe...

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

Yes it was the film that led to the revelation and investigation, which is part of my skepticism. They do a documentary about doping and they just happened to get the mastermind of the whole Russian doping system (involving secret police), and it's during the filming (which he no doubt did for a fee...

Re: Kuzmin scraping and structure

Got a new pair of classic skis (skin skis) that came unprepared which I then 'Kuzmined' (universal) and brushed (kuzmin high speed brush with fluoride) with a grinder tool at 10 000 rpm, and can report the glide is amazing at -4 C and -1 C.

Re: Skin skis general discussion

Thanks guys, very useful info. Unfortunately I don't have access to the Norwegian daily Dagbladet for the latest skin ski test, but the headline is that the winner Fischer is in a class of its own. Can add that the grip of my new skin skis (Salomon Equipe RC Skin 16/17) that was not ideal, was much ...

Re: Skin skis general discussion

Another observation is that skins so far have been mohair (goat hair), but the latest Fischer have a mix of mohair and nylon. (this ski a clear winner in a test recently, and even that's mostly to do with the ski itself, it's still interesting in that it shows nylon is not only for durability, perfo...
