Re: Skin skis general discussion

The other day we had snow that was wet(ish) but freezing on the ground, and people were littered along the track scraping ice and stuck snow from their skis, and there was I with the (unprepared) skins with hardly any issues. These things are great. I will put some silicon spray or a skin product on...

Re: Would-be Olympic skier from Tonga

With championship performers like biathlete Ole-Einar Bjørndalen and skier Petter Northug possibly not making the team due to poor run-ups, it will be painful to watch some no-hopers trundling around filling up places that in a fair world should be theirs.

Re: Hamstring injury from missed kicks...

Not hamstrings, getting slightly sore achilles but not sure from missed kicks or what.

Think it's just from doing a lot of classic which I haven't done for years.

Re: do hobbies/sports typically have no forums?

I find it weird too. Here in Norway where XC is the national sport and every house has skis, there is very little forum activity. The XC forum is on a general training forum but the biking and running section is much more active. It's basically why I joined here. From what I can see in Sweden it's a...

Re: How long do skis last?

I've seen threads in a Norwegian forum about sole degradation and how there is really no need to store it in wax as is done after every season by many, as some have taken out 20 and 30 year old skis and it still looks the same, but then I believe they are basically plastic which is not affected by m...

Re: Would-be Olympic skier from Tonga

It's of course desperately unfair that no-hope athletes can compete in the biggest competition of them all just because they have a certain passport, whereas real medal contenders aren't allowed because they have another passport (where their limited quota is used up). But I can't really blame the n...

Oh joy.. With the extra christmas kilos, my new skin skis are working beautifully, and with perfect tracks and shape coming in, XC skiing is such a pleasure ATM.

Re: Revisit a legend: when Oddvar broke his pole!

And maybe revealingly, Savjalev says in the video that after Brå went past the last uphill and he was on all fours on the snow, that he was considering grabbing Brå's ski which in a way confirms that the pole breaking was not entirely an accident..

Re: Revisit a legend: when Oddvar broke his pole!

Well someone knew, and that was the decision, AFAICR undisputed by the Soviets. About the shared gold, maybe it was felt that both Savjalov and Brå hindered each other so everyone was fine with that. Brå was convinced at the time (and still is), that Savjalev hindered his attack in the last uphill o...

Re: crazy rain race at TdS -- another near 30kmh ave!

It was like the typical mass start where no one can get away due to snow or too easy course like here, and then the ones good at maneuvering in tight fields and strong finishers win. 2 of the 3 on the podium were tipped by the Norwegian coach so quite expected really. Yes, Ustyugov, Harvey etc are a...

Re: crazy rain race at TdS -- another near 30kmh ave!

Yeah that was a crazy race. Never seen so many incidents. Anyone could win it, but the Norwegian coach Hetland tipped both Iversen and Skar on the podium before the race which is quite something. (he had Krogh as winner and likely should have with normal form, as he was perfectly placed before the l...
