Re: Incredible race by Simen Hegstad Krüger

Spoilers have been part of the netiquette as far as I can remember and some forums or pages even have a function for it. Normally not that massive of a deal to have the odd race spoiled, but for an Olypmpic 30k that's already gone done in history it was a shame to know the outcome beforehand, especi...

Re: Incredible race by Simen Hegstad Krüger

I make a thread about no spoilers for Olympics (anyway common and polite on forums to warn about spoilers in titles) and then you promptly make a thread and put the winners name in the title?

Re: Olympics 2018 Pyeongchang

I found the opening ceremony almost painful this time. Couldn't watch it all.

It reminds me of dictator countries where the people march past their leaders in uniform greeting them, and then in the end the greatest leader of them all appear. It's really old fashioned. Kim Jung Un loved it for sure.

No spoilers please!

I rarely get to watch races live on TV anymore and will most times visit the forum before I see the recordings, so please keep the thread titles diffuse if you can, especially during big events like Olympics now.

Thanks 8)

Re: New doping allegation: 300 XC skiers from many nations (2001-2010)

The immediate response from the Norwegian XC heads is that some people have naturally high values, meaning they either didn't understand the accusations at all or pretending so.

Re: Strap on a helmet and slog right in

In cross-country skiing, every single mile per hour must be earned. You pump your arms and legs against an endless and relentless resistance. Much like running then? Cross-country skiing is where the elegant majesty of winter sports goes to die an excruciatingly drawn-out death. Bless.. :bla...

Re: Anyone skiing yet?

I don't know what to think when I hear about people crying from some experience in nature like with northern lights or similar, but the hairs were actually standing and got chills (not from cold) the other day as it was just an incredibly lovely winter day with trees as white as could be, snow glist...

Re: Do we still need tracks?

I'm spoiled for good tracks now. Near the point where I will only go on recently prepped ones (unless beginning of season when there's no choice). For me the difference is huge. In good light and max focus (before getting tired), it's possible, to some degree, to anticipate how older/unprepped track...

But again, just as with the Russian case, there is little if no verifiable evidence as yet.

And what's also same, there is not much reaction from the sporting bodies about it, just shrugging, although this is very recent.

Don't have a solution, but I know the situation and TBH, the klister mess was a part of why I started skating and got skin ski now.

Re: Nordic Ski World Championships

Pundits (highly respected and knowledgeable) now say courses for World Championships are actually designed in order to include or even favor skiers from certain nations which are good sponsor wise, so what we thought was incompetence was actually cynical calculation..

New doping allegation: 300 XC skiers from many nations (2001-2010)

Swedish TV, The Sunday Times and Swiss magazine Republik together with famed German journalist Hajo Seppelt (who started the ball rolling with the Russian doping case), have obtained 10 000 tests from almost 2000 World Cup XC skiers from between 2001 and 2010, many of them World Championship and Oly...

It was just a less bombastic way to say it. Don't know why you're making a point of this.

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

I believe the basis of this last claim is because of values unusual for the athlete in big events. That is, they have known average values, which then inexplicably spike to unrealistic levels during championships. We are a little off topic now, but can you refer me to a web page where your belief i...
