Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

My problem is not enough flex / extension and arms generally too wide giving a "chimp on rollerskis" look. Ok not quite that awful but you get the idea. I must say seeing the scar tissue on Tara Mountain-Goat (or whatever she's called in real life), last year's womens Castle winner, puts me off roll...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

ok well I went out rollerskiing on Saturday because we have a club session on Wednesday and I wanted to be sure I could still stand on them. New poles (10 euros from Intersport - very bounce glass fibre jobs but I think the springyness is an advantage for my joints) and new wheels from Barnett Sport...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

I managed to go through the last couple of years without falls but it makes you less keen to try stuff out I think. 3 years ago I misjudged a very small ridge and landed on my front cutting my elbows and knees and it made me very cautious. Best thing I did was go to a couple of proper rollerski trac...

Re: Anyone rollerskiing yet?

Nothing yet. I've still got a bad elbow so will wait until it is finally better (tennis elbow despite not playing tennis). I've bladed a couple of times and will continue with this as I think the balance could be good then transition to rollerskiing later. Classic is good for uphills where I, person...

Re: Crossover roller blading, roller skiing and skating

I too had quite a twist when my rollerski pole got jammed between two planks on a boardwalk boardwalks eh? I broke a pole that way in the autumn (at Aix les Bains by the lake - wonderful place to ski and skate) and then another pole a week later in a drain. The drain was annoying because I lost the...

Crossover roller blading, roller skiing and skating

I hurt my arm at the start of this season (building work) and am pleased to make it through to the end. Rather than getting the rollerskis out I've dusted down my roller blades (inline skates). Now there is obviously a difference in the movements but how detrimental is it? I'm hoping to improve my b...

Re: US Biathlon Article in Seattle Times

Well it was Egan who finally got it together with a podium in the last mass start in Holmenkollen. Incidentally a venue where Dunklee has done similar before, so don't know if it's last race of the season and late form appearing / pressure off, but interesting conicidence. Dunklee was certainly off...

Re: Winter season 18/19

Sounds like a nightmare. There is a descent like that at a local ski area called Barioz - very steep but maybe just 15 meters height drop, you just launch off and come to a halt on the other side but it is always hairy. I'm improving my balance so have had less brown trouser moments on skis, just pa...

28C in some Pyrenees valleys yesterday. Much stickiness on snow.

Not looking good at the nearest X country center to work (1000 metes asl) today
