Jessie Diggins on SalomonTV

I haven't had a chance to watch this (at work) but SalomonTV has profiled Jessie Diggins in their latest video

https://youtu.be/139GSd3oI2c

they'd previously covered Karolone Osknevad, not a top racer but some nice shots of Lillehammer

Re: any cool new nordic ski movie out there?

What kind of thing were you thinking of? I don't know about the US/Canadian nordic ski racers but a lot of the guys and girls in Europe do ski jumping as well as racing, at least at the start, and that probably gives them some confidence. I saw Jessie Diggins was doing some some jumps in training th...

Re: Skin skis taking over?

What do you think of this move? From what you've said it seems like a good thing cutting down waxing complexity. Don't you still need glid wax for the rest of the ski though? It seems like these small, removable skins would be ideal for nordic touring skis as well. Clip out skin, clip in base. (Note...

Rollerski Length

What can people tell me about Rollerski length.

I currently use 530mm - I figured they'd be easy to handle. Is there any advantage to going longer? 610 mm?

Recent interview with Johaug "I've lost the thing I love" https://www.vg.no/sport/langrenn/therese-johaug/preget-johaug-jeg-har-blitt-fratatt-det-jeg-elsket/a/24164778/ She returned from Livigno "deflated" - "I have not exercised much, to be honest. I have taken it easy. I h...

This video, although in French, illustrates some of Jeff's points,

Re: French national championships (rollerski)

Hey that's excellent. Excellent. Keep the coverage coming. As for Forcade being slow, it does seem there's a big difference between snow and rollerski speed. I think there's a talent to making skis glide on snow, but of course if he kicked ass in previous years and he's slow this year, that may be ...

French national championships (rollerski)

I was up in the Bauges this weekend and took some footage of the French national rollerski championships on the Feclaz circuit. Martin Forcade shot well but rolled in 11th! This shocked him a bit and there are questions about his preparation. He's never that quick on rollerskis - I don't think he li...

Re: Action cameras

As I've had all summer to think about this.

Get a cheap "dashcam" type camera that does loop recording.
Fit to helmet, maybe on the side.
Something like a Mobius would be ok, or a cylinder shaped cam or even the 808#16 keychain cam if you can secure it.

Saw the snow in Norway. In the Alps it is an Indian Summer although the Iseran pass was icy over the weekend.

You can see the XC trails here, right at the bottom of the glacier:- https://tignes.roundshot.com/grande-motte/ there was some fresh snow on the glaciers yesterday Glacier 3000 should also have XC skiing open https://www.glacier3000.ch/en/winter-sports/additional-winter-activities/cross-country-skii...

Re: Therese Johaug doped

The amount was consistent with a few applications on the lip, so that holds up, but I believe she was given the whole packet, not just the tube. I understand the steroid in question is used by female athletes in small doses to reduce body fat. Whether that makes much sense in the middle of the summ...
