Re: Rossignol S2 vs S2+

Thanks, I'm surprised Rossignol don't mention this on their website. So effectively it is the "stiff" version of the ski - as with other manufacturers.

Rossignol S2 vs S2+

Does anyone know what the difference is between the S2 and S2+ from Rossignol. There is a weight difference of 1g listed in the catalog and the S2+ is only available in larger sizes, I'm assuming it is stiffer?

Re: Ole-Einar Bjørndalen retires at 44

I wonder if his problem has been brought on by too much training over the years ?

Re: How to promote rollerskiing?

> maybe one of the reasons the question of PR comes up is seeing all those sweet videos of European pro rollerski racing There is the Castle race which looks pretty comparable to Lysebotn/Blink. Interestingly the Brits do a lot of Rollerski promotion - probably because they lack much in the way of C...

Koukalová to announce retirement...

Voted sportswomen of the year in December 2017 Gabriela Koukalová missed the 2018 Olympics due to an Achilles tendon strain. It now seems things are not well in Camp Koukalová , she has said that who she thought were trusted friends and team members have abandoned her following her health problems. ...

Re: Elite racers and their gear

I typed this on my phone... meant race not rave... I did wonder for about 2 seconds but went back and re-read. I think shorter length skis just have too short of contact zones to be fast enough on the world cup. I was talking skate skis not classic btw. So does this mean that the sweet spot is some...

Re: Elite racers and their gear

Dorothea Weirer Her name is Wierer, isn't it? it is, it was a repetitive typo :-) Chevalier is on the 187cm S2 this year https://www.rossignol.com/media/catalog/product/cache//e9c3970ab036de70892d86c6d221abfe/r/h/rhgcr01_2.jpg As Porter Waggoner would say "that's a big ski for a little lady&qu...

Re: Elite racers and their gear

Anything is possible. The photos I was looking at were from skiing - races and training. Weirer was on S1 up on the glacier in spring. I think the numbers on her skis were right as they looked very long. I'll post links when I find them. I wondered whether the French team had just given all their fe...

Elite racers and their gear

I know that elite sport doesn't apply to most of us but I was wondering what skis racers were using. Here are some examples I found (may not be up to date) Marie-Dorin 168cm / 56 kg. Skis Rossignol WCS S2 186cm Anais Chevalier 163cm / 53 kg. Skis Rossignol WCS S2 186cm Dorothea Weirer: 158cm / 60 kg...

Re: do hobbies/sports typically have no forums?

In France etatdespistes.com has a bit of traffic. Sometimes it is the only way of getting an idea about conditions in ski areas as they tend to not be very web friendly. Ski touring/skimo has a huge online community. Maybe because it is now seen as a "youth sport" and "fashionable&quo...

It is fun to watch but really organizing the Olympics seems to appeal to corrupt politicians who want to cream a lot of the money for themselves.

Jessie Diggins on SalomonTV

I haven't had a chance to watch this (at work) but SalomonTV has profiled Jessie Diggins in their latest video

https://youtu.be/139GSd3oI2c

they'd previously covered Karolone Osknevad, not a top racer but some nice shots of Lillehammer

Re: any cool new nordic ski movie out there?

What kind of thing were you thinking of? I don't know about the US/Canadian nordic ski racers but a lot of the guys and girls in Europe do ski jumping as well as racing, at least at the start, and that probably gives them some confidence. I saw Jessie Diggins was doing some some jumps in training th...
