Pre Poncet opened yesterday with 10k of trails with snow due for the next week,

After last years dismal snow, things were not looking good in the high Doubs but this morning we have. :-) Enneigement parfait with 50cm base and the same exspected over the next few days at Chapelle de Bois Pre Poncet, with the sun due to shine when we arrive Thurs. Goff

Hi Jeff. Have been on statins now for 3 months now after triple bypass, with no side effects.When the problem 1st arose my gp put me on another drug not for cholestrol which made me feel really ill,after a visit to the hospital a consultant changed the drug and i had no problems. Hi Cloxxki as Ken said in other post Bessans looks a good choice at 1740 mtrs 54 cm snow cover at moment 133 piste, we might decamp their for a week if the Jura does not improve, just checked TGV to Mondane then Alti bus to Bessans 15 euro for bus return very reasonable. Goff

Hi Monty. The conditions are very poor at present some snow might be due around the 15th. The Pre Poncet, Chapele De Bois areas have some tracks open at present and are about 30 min from les Rousses. http://www.espacenordiquejurassien.com/index.htm Goff

Yes we had our 1st decent day for a while, so hoofed it up scarp slope onto the northdowns way and jogged up to Holly hill 196 metres was great to out doors at last, :-)

Hi guys Les Fourgs is good for snow usualy,about the best area around there for late snow is Pre Poncet. Looks like some cold weather onway but not much snow if any Dire year :-( .

Must agree , our descents end up
looking like Bambi on the ice, allways looked like skaters had more control.
The Depot de Vente in Pontarlier has heaps of used gear so we will buy some and give it a whirl, with some lessons.

Hi Ise, We were due to be in Les Hopitaux for the new year but the weathers crazy -10snowing then heavy rain to wash it allway again.So will see what occurs, hope to be in the Doubs for all of Feb with a week in the alps for some alpine.So have to work something out Mont Suchet looks good. Goff

Each year we bring our skis back to Enland in the forlorn hope
we will use them and this year we didnt :-( and we have now had snow cover
for three weeks and 20cm forecast tonight, :twisted:

Hi Ise, One of our favorite days out around there is Secteur Mont Herba which sets of from the quarry in Jougne, 1st right at roundabout between Jougne and Les Hopitaux Neufs. The Bois de Ville boucle leads on to Mont Herba then over to Les fourgs or back to La Seigne Biathalon course and liason bac...

Wolves :o after watching them have a major spat from a overhead gantry at the Juraparc think we would find some where else to be, was truly scarey.Any way saw this Doubs France last week which locals said was unusual

On Switzerland the cantons of Vaud joins Ticino, Graubunden, Valais, Neuchatel, Solothurn, St Gallen, Bern and Nidwalden have now banned smoking in public places, now where to go for a mix of Alpine and xcountry.Normaly go to Tarentaise in French Alps but Xcountry is limited. Goff
