Re: overtraining & recovery

Jay - Thanks for the idea about asking a coach!!! No, I have not experienced any heart issues that I'm aware of. Also no light headedness, or shortness of breath which can be related to heart issues. Bifff - You're right, I gotta relax. I did not mean to imply that someone should diagnose me over th...

Re: overtraining & recovery

I forgot one other thing from recent history. I did have medically & laboratory diagnosed exercised induced rhabdomyolosis last July after a hard day. Obviously this is not overtraining, but possibly an indication of intensity? The sleep problems only developed after the day I "crashed"...

Re: overtraining & recovery

Just wanted to post an update in case others are experiencing something similar. It's been a week since my post, and this past week was a huge improvement!! I have a doctor appointment for next week, so other issues still have not been ruled out. With my initial post I was't very clear about my exha...

Re: overtraining & recovery

Yeah, I think you guys are right. I need some blood work done, and to see a doctor. I was REALLY hoping someone would be able to say "no problem, I experienced the same thing, and now I feel great!!". Doesn't look like that will happen. The weird thing is that it was like a switch was flip...

overtraining & recovery

I'm wondering if anyone can provide information about how they dealt with an overtraining situation? I'm coming up on 7 weeks of not being able to ski (or do any exercise) without complete exhaustion. I haven't even tried in over 3 weeks, and have been doing nothing except going to work (where I can...

I recently saw the human powered groomer as well. It looks great. I've been grooming my own skate lane for the last few years. All I use is a piece of plywood with a row of screws along the edge about 1 inch apart. This way it can refresh some of the ice that eventually shows up. It can also make it...

Maybe you're asking why should such a loner sport worry about popularity? Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Your answer makes sense. I hear you about people should ski where they can. I spend a lot of my days skiing laps at 4:30 AM on the 450 meter loop in my backyard where I groom a skate lane wi...

I recently signed up on this website, but have been lurking ever since it started. After reading the comments about downhill vs. cross country skiing I just wanted to ask a couple questions. I hope this doesn't sound like a wiseguy comment, but what should a cross country ski facility/area look like...
