Re: Skin skis general discussion

A question from Neuro in the Skin Ski maintenance thread. Slightly OT and maybe more for this thread , but what's your take on grip generally? I have found the Atomic Skintec Redsters to have plenty of grip. They were accurately selected for my body weight. My only complaint might be they drag a lit...

Re: Cleaning and Maintenance of SkinTec Skis?

I used my Atomic Redster Skintecs for about 6 days of skiing last winter. A few days early in the season at West Yellowstone when conditions were icy or there was new snow above freezing, then a few more stays in wet sloppy snow at Izaak Walton Inn and another day at Swedetown, again when things wer...

Re: Cleaning and Maintenance of SkinTec Skis?

Had to smile going in to the shop today and see Swix has a blue, red and purple (cold, warm, zero) impregnation for skins. Then there's of course the skin care, skin cleaner, and skin cleaner pro products. Of course there might be marginal gains to be had with the differing waxes, but no way I'm go...

Re: Media source for 2017/18 world cup races?

I watch World Cup races on Skiing Vinnie's YouTube site. I have an Apple TV and watch the races on my large screen HD TV.

Re: Cold winter this time?

The northern Rockies of Montana have receive 2 snow storms so far. The first was mid September the second October 2. More light snow came this week. But that is somewhat normal for this region. What was not normal was the almost complete lack of precipitation between mid June and that mid September ...

Magnus Johansson wrote: Sad to read that, Ralph. Do you still have those roller skis? If you do, what brand and model are they, and how big is the gap between wheel and fork or shaft where the rock got stuck? I sold them the following fall. This was back in 1994. I can't recall the brand name and I'...

Re: The danger of roller skiing

I can attest to these dangers. While descending a hill on my roller skis back in the fall of 1994 the front wheel picked up a rock that wedged between the wheel and the frame. This immediately stopped the wheel and the skis. I took several steps trying to stop my momentum but on the third step I twi...

Re: Vauhti Quick Glides

Skied the Rendezvous Race 25 Km Classic. I gotta say the Vauhti Quik Glides were wonderful. Skis were very quick and smooth on downhills accelerated nicely. While I'm not an elite skier this 70 yo guy felt a joy flying past othe classic skiers on downhills. If the Vauhti grips perform as well I migh...

Vauhti Quick Glides

I purchased a set of Vauhti Quick Glide waxes from the Vauhti booth at the Birkie Expo. The set has a cleaner, base prep, and three waxes: LF Polar, LF Mid and HF Mid. These are all liquids and do not require ironing in. Apply, let dry thoroughly, cork in the LF Polar, LF Mid or HF Mid then brush. I...

Re: 201 7 Biathlon World Championships Men's Pursuit

I watched both the men's and women's biathlon pursuit races. The coverage was outstanding. Great cheering crowds, good camera work with super slo-motion closeups of skiers shooting, very nice shots of ski technique, coverage of more action than just the leaders, and enough suspense. And the first ou...
