Kuan will be happy his video is still getting airplay. I like the other one using power tools on the skis too. Forgetting the rifle, hah, that would be me.

I think they should give tennis balls to the fans, probably one a piece. They get to throw it at anytime and at anyone. A spectator that gets to participate!

I can’t imagine skis coming off. I wonder if the skis were secured before the race.
Morrie, my guess would be that Gear West and Hoigaards got the wax "close enough" or just as good as anyone else that it was the skis that made for slow skis at the end of the race. Many people have skis that run well in "normal winter conditions" i.e. 5 to 25 F, but people struggle with warm and we...
It’s all about the skis, so I really thought about this one. I have some Yokos which are very fast in cold, and surprisingly do ok until it gets wet. I have a couple pair of Fischers (115) that are good when it’s around freezing, and really, really, good when it’s wet. They tend to drag at 25 and I’...
Just for discussion, it seems that snow falling at 28-29 F has a good chance of being wet. Given that, once you have an inch or two of wet snow on the ground, how much does the ground temp matter? I don't have experience waxing for that. It seems like wet snow would ski as if it's warm. A Cera F (8)...
It's easy this year...if the race was Friday. As of Tue, the prediction is for snow to come in Fri night and Sat morning. It doesn't sound like a lot of snow. The existing snowpack is cold (from what the locals say), and it was -13F up there this morning (in Hayward), probably colder on parts of the...
Ben, I love your stories, each of 'em (even if I don't comment). I've been sitting on my ascii trying to get over this cold, and I typed in a year of workouts into Excel. So I have been looking for trends trying to correlate Birkie results to something. The best predictor I found is that afib has a ...
We have Wed 5 km races. It's a skate followed by a classic. As I was standing at the start line for the classic, my HR went up to 150 and said, "Ut-oh, I think I"m in afib," and the race officials looked worried. My HR started dropping and they started the race. No problem with the race. They were h...
Don, I hope you're doing well this week and didn't get sick. I picked up a cold, so I obviously pushed the body hard. I'm not sure why it felt so cold. The official temps were -4F at start time, -4 an hour later and 0F two hours later. There wasn't that much wind, but everyone complained it was cold...
First, 14.xx is my 3k time. Second, I enjoyed the video. Third, we now have snow. We've had a few 5-6" systems come through, and the various local golf course have been grooming. I have a cold, but I'll get out there in a few days....I hope. I did a little classic last night and it was fantastic. On...
