Here's a few pics from Thurday mornings climb from Keystone Ski Area (9,000ft) to Loveland Pass (12,000ft). A fun ride plus a good workout... though I'd rather be skiing :D Pics are in reverse order as I only stopped for pics on the descent. 10,000ft http://www.yostwerks.com/LoveB.jpg http://www.yos...

With lots of new snow this week, Rita and I went skiing and snowshoeing Saturday and Sunday at the now closed Frisco and Breckenridge nordic centers. I had to change back from the rollerski ferrules I attached last week. Too much snow Sunday at 10,000ft for skating, but I skied anyway at Breck. .......

I find that rollerskiing translates well to snow skiing, and is a good way to work on technique and conditioning in summer. I used to rollerblade for technique but it did have a negative impact come winter. As John already mentioned, I reckon that if you have strong technical skills to begin with, r...

thats beautiful, so why close if there is still plenty of snow? Snow this time of year is inconsistent with alternating ice and slush conditions due to daytime temps in the 40's and 50's. Plus, there are simply too few skiers to justify the cost of keeping the Nordic Centers open... same for downhi...

Is there more snow on the west side of the mountains? Way more.... Compare yesterday's skiing pic with today's motorcycling pic. There's 40ft of snow at Breckenridge (10,000ft west) this season, and just a few feet at Kenosha Pass (10,000ft east), near my home. Most of which has already melted due ...

Spectacular scenery! Reminds me of my skiing trips to Northern Finland (although the peaks there were little smaller than in Colorado). Thanks. I live at 9,000ft, but on the east side of the continental divide. It's only 75 minutes to the Nordic Centers, but it's a world apart :D ... Tom Here's a p...

Skiing in Colorado today ....
With 13" of new snow yesterday in Summit County, skiing conditions were excellent today at Frisco Nordic ( 9,100ft). It's not always this good so late in the season. Breckenridge ski area, just up the road has received 39.5ft (475in) of snow this season (mid-mountain). It's hard to believe this...

They still groom this late in the season? As long as it snows, they will groom. Scheduled closing is 17 April. Check out today's snow report . http://www.breckenridge.com/mountain/snow-and-weather-report.aspx Nice thing about snow is that it melts and fills the lakes and rivers.... to be enjoyed ag...

I rollerskied on my woodski's about 50 days this past year before the snows arrived in November. The Hickory is quite durable, obsorbs road shock very well, and provides a good workout. If there is a small downside, it's that they are just a bit heavier than the aluminum rollerskis I've tried. The h...
