Re: nordic hotspots - where would you move? [USA]

Duluth

I visited a friend after the Sisu and was quite amazed with the trails, their proximity to the city, and the grass root support they have (full interconnection soon?). Can't wait to return.

Re: The catsup connection

Very interesting. Could possibly work, but it looks like their interests are on much bigger deals initially.

Re: MI - Keweenaw Peninsula

It's amazing that three hours north of us you have ski-able snow. Jealous for sure.

Re: clean boots

For my running shoes, ski boots, work shoes, etc, I fill an old sock with silica jel (there are some cat litter brands that are just silica jel) and stuff that in the boot/shoe after every use. They all have zero odor and I haven't had any negative effects. I have read that cedar wood has a similar ...

Re: Roller skis

I second the Roller Ski Shop skis. I have the T6101 with the drop forks. I used them several times a week last summer and they have been flawless. The wheels show very little wear for the amount of use.

That was awesome. How can that not be prime time TV in the US?

Re: Noque +1C/0C/-1C

At the last minute I decided to use my waxless skis, mostly due to the lack of training on snow this year (and my limited experience in this temp range waxing). Well towards the end of the race when wave 1 skaters started passing I was told on two different occasions that I was one of the few with k...

Re: Tracking watch - Garmin

I agree. I don't check my watch often while skiing. I do check distance some and will use HR to gauge how hard I am going as opposed to pace. I wear my Suunto outside my jacket so it's relatively easy to see while skiing.

Re: How much "slop" should there be in ratchet of classical

It's a one way bearing so there should be no "slop". The ends of the hub are usually square and can become rounded and begin slipping. Or most likely the socket they fit into in the forks would round out first as it's usually aluminum and the hubs steel.

Re: Dang, Northug busted bigtime...

Norway seems to take driving under the influence very serious. 50 days in jail, loss of license and facing a fine up to almost 30 grand. Wonder if he will get another sponsor supplied Audi.

Re: Roller Ski Drop

Follow up report: I decided on the T601 ski with the drop shaft. I am very pleased with the stability and feel of the ride. After a few weeks of skiing (around 12 hours) I now feel stable and confident with V2 at speed. I am surprised at how smooth the aluminum shafts feel even on the chip seal road...
