Re: How long do skis last?

I still occasionally ski on my Epoke 1000's. They are almost 40 years old. As long as they are stored in a reasonable place my guess is that you'd be able to ski most waxable skis indefinitely. Screw Pattern and Balance Point for Pro-Link Bindings

I know I could figure this out myself by comparing my skis with NNN bindings with my skis with Salomon SNS bindings but in Googling Pro-Link mounting I repeatedly was directed back to here but with no real answer to my question, which is; do the new Pro Link bindings mount with the balance point at ...

Re: I'm concerned the guy at the gear store mis-sized my wife

It depends on the ski and her weight. Many waxless beginner style skis are mid-length, being considerably shorter than the traditional lengths. At 155lbs she would (barely) fit the 169cm women's Fischer My Desire model of skis. It would seem like a better fit would be the 174cm. http://www.llbean.co...

25 Year Old Skis and a 30 Year Old Hat

Skied the ski trails today, Underdown rec Area. While the reports said the snow cover was adequate I decided to save my Fischers for better depth and instead pulled out an old pair of Karhu Chases. I don't think I'd skied them for almost a decade. And, in keeping with the theme, I dug around in our ...

Badger State Games Cancelation

Races have been cancelled due to low snow. Personally I think this is ridiculous. I've skied BSG in much worse conditions than are at 9 Mile now.

Re: Airlines and Ski Wax

I packed some glide waxes, a small hand drill for mounting bindings and a wax iron last week on a trip to Maryland in a checked bag. It was searched after it went through the xray. But other than that there was no problem.

Re: Back country skis advice

When I first saw these they struck me as perfect hunting skis. Made in the US, too. They've been on sale occasionally at mountaingear.com. http://marquette-backcountry.com/shop/ski/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; My dad was an avid ski hunter when he was younger. He used 8' hickory s...
