Re: 1st ski

This is maybe old, but I am always looking for trails to rollerski on in mpls. I use elm creek park exclusively. Where is this trail you are speaking if? I work in Plymouth and would like to find something close to work.

Re: Anyone else feel like giving-up on this winter?

Good news. The grounhog saw his shadow so that means 6 more weeks of winter. Haha. If you live close to Medicine Lake, they groom it 2/3 around the lake. Be good for some fast V2. Liuckily, i live 2 miles from Elm Creek, and i don't mind going and putting in 3-4 laps every night. More than that ait ...

Re: Help with graphite wax

i think it is more linked to brushing. I can brush for a long time with a horsehair or soft brass and still get wax out. I think my bases are not actually flat so i leave some wax not removed by scraping. My question is should the graphite be put on first on a clean base, then add blue on top? Or sh...

Help with graphite wax

I was told to put down some graphite in my bases to help eliminate the white steaks I get after 5km of skating. Should I iron this on after I've cleaned the bases, then add blue after that? How many coats of graphite? BTW, I get white steaks mainly under the binding after 5km, that can be mostly bru...

Re: Does Nordic Roller Skating really train you for snow ska

Yeah rolerskiing is as close as you can get. Roller blading has a different action. If you get rollerskis, make sure you don't get too fast of wheels. I played ariound with wheel diameter and hardness on mine. Even with a soft durometer and a small diameter, they are still slightly faster than on sn...

Intersesting hearing about using slow wheels. Weird how you want to have faster skis, but fast rollerblades are too fast. I was told by a friend who races on rollerblades to get the tallest and hardest durometer wheel i could get to be fast. I got 84mm with 84 duro hardness. They are way too fast. Y...

I was going to get roller skis also, and decided to get new rollerblades. I read up and where i ski, there are some big hills. I don't know how you stop on those things. Sharp 90 degree turns on the bottom of steep hills are not fun. Just my 2 cents

steep downhill in tracks

Is it better to stay in the classic tracks on a steep downhill, or get out of them on the top? I feel it might be hard to slow down if i am committed to stay in them. I have a hard time with steep downhills with a 90 degree turn on the bottom. What is the best method? For me they are too steep to do...

I've heard to just scrape the kick wax off and leave it clean. That is what i am doing. I was going to keep the kickwax on, but figured it would collect a lot of dust. BTW, my wife said i could keep my skis under the bed. What do they do with the skis tat aren't sold in the ski shops? I would guess ...

You gave me a good idea Don. I went to a lake that is 7 miles from home. Pefect conditions. The whole lake, sowmobile tracks and all, where flat with about 1=1/2 inches of soft slush/snow. It measured 2.5 miles around. I did 2 laps. Funny thing is, that someone had skated there before me. Parked at ...
