Re: the latest in cold prevention?

If I feel the least bit of inkling of getting a cold I will down some Emergen-C and pop some ZiCam every couple of hours before I go to bed. It seems to work.

Re: World Cup 2018/2019

Top four spots to Russians has to hurt Norwegian pride I would think. Johaug should reclaim some of that tomorrow.

Re: Birkie Waxing

Skied Madshus Redline for softer snow with a cold Caldwell G5 grind. SkiGo LF graphite, SkiGo Orange, SkiGo c105 powder covered with Holmenkol mid block. Added a fine cross hatch with old Toko Structurerite. Skis were plenty fast, I think I was passed on the downhills only a couple of times. Unfortu...

Re: Cold winter this time?

2nd update three days later. Golf course now closed again, it rained pretty hard Wednesday night and part of Thursday. Supposed to rain on and off through the weekend here in the valley. Everything over 4,000' is still good.

Re: Cold winter this time?

Update since last post. It has been snowing. Golf course in town has opened up with with a couple inch base and all mountain trails are now 100% open. It has not come in any large dump, but 1/2 - 2" a day adds up as long as it stays cold. :D

Re: Cold winter this time?

West side of the divide in Montana not much better for valley skiing - just not enough coverage. Higher elevation skiing(4,000' +) is slowly getting better. I am still skiing on my rock skis though because every once in a while under larger trees there might be some rocks kicked up from the groomer....

Re: Your heritage?

Grew up in SF Bay Area. Played soccer in high school and one year of college. Sophomore year after my exit from the soccer team, I was looking for something new. Sierra Designs in Berkeley hosted a nordic skiing night; I had skied downhill a couple of times in the Sierra but it seemed too expensive-...

Re: Video link for World Cup races -- US viewable...

Ralph, If you buy a VPN hookup you can watch the races on Norwegian TV: NRK (Norsk commentators) or Eurosport on Bristish TV. I pay $99 annually for the hookup; but you can purchase VPN use monthly. NRK usually covers races from start to fininsh for all competitors. Have you heard is Essex has enoug...

Re: American Birkie 2018

After I ruptured my L4 disc at the start of last November, I was sure I could still make the 2018 Birkie. Was not in the cards. Two fellow ski racers here, both Physical Therapists, continually hammered me to go slow that it would be better for the long run. So basically I put on my snow cleats and ...

Jay are you referring to the Super One in Whitefish? Trying to remember if I have seen a Bianchi in classic "Celeste" color recently.

Re: Just a winter pic

Ralph,
We got a little rain last night here in Whitefish. It was downright enjoyable going for a run this morning - no clogged sinuses or coughing from excess smoke inhalation.

Re: Race Suits, your thoughts?

Have always worn a one piece race suit. Started with an Odlo Norwegian 1976 team knicker suit(which I still own and occasionally race a local classic race in), followed by a full leg one piece Terriknit in the late 70's(which I still own and has been used as a Halloween costume a couple of times). T...

Early winter here in NW Montana....BUT!

Ruptured my L4-5 disc two weekends ago. Saw neurologist yesterday. Said it was probably just a weakness from 64+ years of activity that gave out. Other than that the MRI showed that my back was better than a lot of 30 year old patients that they see. I have a dull ache in the upper left quad muscle ...
