If you like the Killers, Foo Fighters, Editors, Arctic Monkeys, Manic Street Preachers, Fratellis,...

Re: Snow Biking?

A new one on me. http://davebyers.blogspot.com/2007/04/yellowstone-winter-use-public-comment.html fsc i would think that you could just bike in and if someone complains, argue that a bicycle is not 'wheeled vehicular traffic'----summat that is, I would think, obviously directed at motorcycles or ca...

Re: Switching gears

I managed to sneak out on the road bike Wednesday evening. Did a version of a workout I call the "Hillside Hills" workout. Pretty much just biking up one road on the Anchorage Hillside and down another and then up the next. Ended up with three extended climbs and some level/rolling connec...

Where in Austria did you hit the trails? As posted elsewhere on this board, my first real foray into XC skiing was in the Kirchdorf-Erpfendorf-St. Johann area in Tirol way back in winter 1992 glorious--utterly glorious. what a trail system. http://www.ferienregion.at/asp_service/upload/content/Winte...

This year I took my first real hard fall on XC skis in my 10+ years in the sport. It was a hard/icy/cold day, and I was V2 sprinting down a gentle hill, and was moving quite nicely. Then, in an instant, I slammed chest and head first into the rock hard trail. I hit my head solidly on the trail, and...

if only i knew what this 'freelance' reporting was all about. sheesh. Compared with other winter sports, skate skiing is relatively safe. Since the technique is designed for gentle terrain , most skaters don't build up the velocity that leads to a violent fall, says Thomas Howard, a Fairfax family p...
