Re: Atomic World Cup Skintec - Waxless Classic

Cleaning--I asked this at my local shop today as it is once again ski season. I took my skintecs out--it was 34 degrees, fresh snow that had been knocked down, but not fully groomed--I had a lot of icing on the insert. 1. I went ahead and ordered up a set of spare inserts--figured can not hurt--$75 ...

Re: Waxable vs. waxless skis?

My experience--I went from 5mph to 6.5mph when I went from salomon equip G2 Micros to Atomic Skintec (granted, both are technically wax less). I found the salomon g2 micros to be faster than traditional scaled skis. Atomic Skintec vs a true waxable---a push for me---The skintec gives me consistent p...

Re: Ski recomendations, and are "men's" and "women's" differ

My recomendation is the Salomon XADV59...waxless double camber with metal edges tip and tail...nice ski for multiple conditions, and still fits in track. Mens vs. Womens.....all comes down to flex, which translates into weight ranges....you want to be sure you can get the kick zone to contact the gr...

Re: Hillside Trails and Moose

Shot some video out on the trail. Temps warmed up, had some rain, so the trails were icy--used my Salomon Equipe G2 micro skis--worked well.

Time was 5PM so there are some nice sunset scenes.

Re: Anyone else feel like giving-up on this winter?

Hope you all get more snow. We have another foot of it coming down today. When I lived in Flagstaff Arizona I shared your problem--snow was unreliable and the season was way to short--it is one of the major reasons I relocated to Alaska.

Glad you have snow...enjoy.
One of the reasons I moved to Alaska was for better winter snow.

Re: Atomic World Cup Skintec - Waxless Classic

Going to be a while before I get to try them in anything but really cold temps-- -15F out right now and only going to be single digits to maybe teens for the next two weeks. They perform as a good ski should--they step turn, go in and out of tracks and such without hoopla or fault--they just perform...

Re: Atomic WorldCup Classic SDS

So were does this leave the skintec? Is this a replacement for them or an alternate with both skis being supported by Atomic?

Re: Salomon Pilot bindings

I have the escape 7 boots and yes, they are very comfortable...but I no longer wear them...Mine may be defective, but I found I was twisting ever so slightly the toe bar and causing the boot to not come down on the strike plate properly. I went up to the RC carbon boot. On the binding, I can not say...

Re: Classic skiing without tracks -- seems like a handy skil

If we are talking groomed trails, then I ski in track. The biggest issue I have out of track is I just get in the way of the skate skiers--The lane is theirs.

Re: 28%, that all?

28% is steep. Think about a flight of steps....at most, steps are 45%, and that wouls be a steep hard to climb flight...now imagne skiing up the steps.

Several hills on my routine ski run 20% for part of the climb...it is rough.

Re: Atomic World Cup Skintec - Waxless Classic

Got mine yesterday, 205 hard (I am 6'2" 225lbs)--waxed them up and took them out today. 8 degrees and snowing lightly, so while the trail was groomed with tracks, there was fresh snow in the tracks. I had been using the Salomon G2 micro's. Much better glide, good grip (used the smaller insert)....

Re: Leaning on the wall

I just finished clearing 6 inches of fresh snow off the driveway--we have about 4 feet on the ground and the trails are in great shape--bring your skis on up and have some fun. The only problem has been with all the deep snow, the moose like the groomed trails (easy to walk on) and they can be a bit...
