Best easy glide for zero deg F ???

I'm used to using Start Green. But is there a newer noticeably better way to go for the casual person who wants some cold weather glide? The Swix guy goes into quite a bit of detail... Says CLEANING is critical. Is this also true for the rec skier? I don't want to get into the weeds World Cup style....

WC coming to MNPLS in 2020!

I suppose everyone knows the WC is coming to Wirth Park in 2020. I thought I read that it was planned to be a Wednesday stop b/w two Canadian events. Is that possible? That would be supremely silly. So where did I see that. I checked the event homepage and it says March 14-17 --- that's a Fri-Tues. ...

Re: World Cup 2018/2019

wow, fast!

I wonder how US skiers do in running... or what happens when you compare other nation running. do run results predict ski results?

Re: steep waddle-oriented last stage?

suffering can be attractive, but ugly never will be. so does this stage fire up many spectators or help the rep of XC for being on the cool side of challenging?

Re: FrankNski setup for backcountry

combi boots are the most awesome development in XC.

they create a big part of the 'mt bike of skis' -- huge control and stability on ungroomed trail.

Re: World Cup 2018/2019

about the athleticism... i'd like to know about the basic stats for skiers. how do they do in biking, running, calisthenics? i suppose those are separate sports... but i'd like to see how WC skiers do with the NENSA or Canadian Fitness test w pull-ups, push-ups, dips, box jumps, etc. ...maybe their ...

how sweet is carbon?

carbon poles are awesome. hands down. is carbon a game-changer in other aspects of skiing? or is it nth degree micro improvements? carbon skis... carbon boots... are they a big deal? are they a lot lighter than the others. and transfer energy a lot better? ...would you ever go back? no way wd i use ...

Re: physics of skiing ...compare skate to classic

Gorf: "...assumed a skate ski is faster because skating doesn't require any kick wax and you can glide during the whole stride." Yeah, that's right. But it seems like the key difference during each whole stride is that in skating the ski is moving forward during the kick while in classic t...

Re: NNN binding bad for classic even w soft/no bumper?

i assume they are skate specific bindings. i'm just going to remove them. their range of motion seems limited even w/o any bumpers and they injure my toes. i'll save them to install on some skate skis someday.

Re: classic faster than skate for some climbing?

i classicked yesterday w two intermediate skaters. they would gain on me on the flats and downs and i would catch and pass them on every climb! i don't think their V1 was very efficient. later on i went out skating. i've only skated a couple times this season and I noticed how much feel and techniqu...

physics of skiing ...compare skate to classic

thinking about the physics of skiing... I've often thought that the main reason why skating is faster than classic is that during the kick in skating the ski is moving, altho at an angle. so there's a gain because it's gliding. and a loss because there's some vector to the side. there's a summing tr...

Re: Fun w new skis!

Whew. I just started another thread about these. But here's an update for this thread. I just skied an hour w these classic skis without any bumpers and one of my toes was injured afterward. Apparently the pivot is coming up shorter than with any other binding I've ever used -- never had toes get hu...

NNN binding bad for classic even w soft/no bumper?

Sorry for starting a new thread, but i wanted a better subjectline. So I picked up a pair of used Rossi classic skis that have racy looking NNN bindings. I skied them once and my toes hurt. The flexor seemed to be doing it. So I removed all the bumpers. That seemed to help a bit on a test outing but...

steep waddle-oriented last stage?

Do they ever do it classic?

Is the waddle look good for the sport?

Not that a final mile of herringbone would be great either

possibly a lesser grade of steepness?
