Re: Olympian Tourists

Anyone know the current conversion of Air Miles travel points into FIS points?

Thinking of trying out for the Seychelles Islands nordic team (being the only member, fingers crossed I wouldn't have to train)…

Re: Glide wax advice.

...In recent years, I've moved towards Fast Wax for the CH waxes mainly because I buy a kilo of white, blue and red at the end of the season for half price and it's cheap as hell. I still use Swix for the LF waxes (in 180 bricks). LF6 is a great wax. I mostly use LF4, LF6 and a little LF7. Now I ha...

Re: Glide wax advice.

That's fine however you wanted to make a point that Swix was the dominate brand and we are pointing out that this is not the case . Not at all, we've come to the agreement that a variety of no-name formula's from different brands are used for racing, but as far as what WC athletes keep in their box...

Re: New Salomon Skin RS Classic Skis

Kim, enjoyed reading your review. I follow Bob Truman's blog (in your snowy neck of the woods) and he's been posting notes about his new SkinTecs. I'm very familiar with skins and kicker skins, so it'll be interesting to see this option mature and improve (ie lower weight) on the next generation of ...

Re: Klister for juicy, sloppy corn ice at 40F?

With a crappy memory, I'm sure to remember them now. :)

And thx, didn't realize there are non-fluoro and flour versions. Have they changed packaging recently to "BM"? I seem to recall "Black Magic" on the label. Maybe it's was the 'shrooms'…

Re: Klister for juicy, sloppy corn ice at 40F?

Good stuff Blah, thanks. Palmed, not corked. Got it (oh, and it'll give a little extra traction on the steering wheel driving home, too. Clever.) Yes, I've heard many great things about "Black Magic" but not *exactly* where to use it (thought it was one of those "mushrooms" the f...

Re: Glide wax advice.

I should have said that Swix is what most World Cup athletes ski on... It is also true that the only reason most use it is because of sponsorship ... ...I know the Canadian national team uses Swix almost exclusively, but there are some exceptions... ...The usage of Swix as the dominant wax on the w...

Re: Heart troubles and XC skiing?

I glad you started this post Hegel. ... Apparently it's a hot topic: "Martin claims he’s been “ostracized” by the fitness industry for posting stories about the link between a lifetime of aerobic exercise and irregular heart function." Says the article has gotten a LOT of attention. Ironic...

Re: Glide wax advice.

Hamlet_cat, you might find this interesting. Here's a "Wax List" from a nordic coach from Canmore, Alberta, my old stomping grounds. I have some quibbles, but it's a pretty solid list (not sure how up-to-date it is). Remember, Canmore/Banff/Kananaskis gets a lot of new mid- to low- humidit...

Re: Glide wax advice.

...As far as doing testing it's important to remember that beyond testing two different waxes, one wax on each ski, there is little else you can do to test wax on your own. Without an expensive set of perfectly matched skis you are just finding out which ski has a better flex and grind. Even with m...

If it had been a Canadian they would have blamed their wax techs again like they always do :D Isn't that what wax techs are for? Checking job description... :D Surprised to hear Justin Wadworth give the techs both barrels on TV, "Our skis were sh1t..." https://skitrax.com/70868/?c" onclic...

... Also makes me really respect his brand too. +1 A cover wax for your cover wax can definitely work well! I will sometimes sprinkle in fluor powder into the kick zone to speed things up though results can be inconsistent. I'm a bigger fan of using a cover speed wax that also provides at least a s...

Thanks, Blah. Time to weed out some older Swix klister tubes.
