Re: XCSki Forum Update

Thanks guys.

It looks like the latest methods have been successful. We haven't had any spam registrations since.

Re: XCSki Forum Update

Thanks Montana, I removed it. I need to scour the code or the details of the mod to be sure but I believe that the mod is only good for accounts created after installation. We'll find out.

Re: XCSki Forum Update

So much for anti-spam. As it turns out, bots have beaten basically all of the CAPTCHA methods out there. I've removed the captcha for new registrations and added a Q&A. I also added a check to verify the registrants email against a database of registered spam address. Lastly I added a mod that k...

Re: XCSki Forum Update

Forum upgraded to the latest version. We still get quite a few spam user registrations per week. Just like last time, PHPBB claims the latest version has some improvements. We will see. I may be adding a new security feature manually if nothing improves.

Re: Hello from Vancouver

Re: Shop Damaged Skis

The store offered me a pair of new 2012 or 2013 (I'm not sure which they are) Equipe 10s for $99. I called the rep direct and he offered me basically the same deal. I'm guessing that the store got them for the reps price. The store wanted to keep mine to recoup some costs which is of course understa...

Re: Shop Damaged Skis

I assume that my bindings will be swapped or I will buy a new set. In my eyes I came in with a perfectly good pair of skis and I should leave with an equally good pair. I will even pay the stone grinding fee since they did do them but ruined them in the process. On a second note, I'm wondering if th...

Shop Damaged Skis

All, I'm looking for some advice. I took my skis (Solomon Equipe 10) to a retailer to have them stone ground last spring. One ski was damaged during the process (base split all the way through). Initially the shop said, and I quote, "We have every intention to provide a new replacement pair.&qu...

Re: Unbelievable

Gosh. In all the flurry of activity last week it didn't even cross my mind to post that news here. I stopped by the Gass home on Friday to see how Tim and the kids were doing and if they needed anything. Talk about Deja Vu. Three years goes by in a hurry. I'd been at their house every two/three mont...

WI - 9-mile - Open

9-mile opened Friday (Jan 15, 2012). The base is thin but enough to leave your rock skis at home. Let's hope it stays cold and we get a few more inches of snow soon.

XCSkiForum Facebook Fan Page

I know that like and dislike of Facebook runs the gamut but it's certainly become a great tool for getting out to a lot of people (and being a developer I like the software they've created). rahisika28 suggested a fan page for the forum and while I was hesitant at first (because really the discussio...
