I can't find any, but these would be the people to ask:

New event in Maine for blind XC skiers

Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation is having a new event for blind/visually-impaired cross-country skiers, February 7-11, 2016. This adds to their current program for blind alpine skiers, NEVI (New England Visually Impaired) Fest, which they've had for several years. The new "Nordic NEVI Fest...

Catamount Trail Association [Vermont]

I already created a topic about the Catamount Trail in the "NorthEast" board, but it is also relevant to "Backcountry". The Catamount Trail is a 300-mile backcountry cross-country ski trail in Vermont that extends the length of the state from north to south. It is the longest suc...

Re: Comparing BC bindings: SNS or NNN?

There are boots for SNS BC? I would wonder why the binding exists if there are no boots for it! The XAdventure series fit that binding, although that line of skis, boots and bindings appear to be on the chopping block for Salomon as it's such a small part of their business. Now is the time ...

Re: nordic hotspots - where would you move? [USA]

Don't know much about the east but it seems that many years they are snow starved. The problem with the east is not snow starvation (which, in recent years, has been more of a problem in places like the Midwest, California, and Anchorage) - and even less so in recent years with the increase in snow...

Re: nordic hotspots - where would you move? [USA]

In the northeast US, there's Lake Placid, New York; Stowe, Vermont; and Jackson, New Hampshire.

All 3 have lots of nordic skiing, alpine skiing, and backcountry skiing, on diverse terrain, with deep-seated local skiing culture.

It's like your own private Catamount Trail

UPrSKr wrote:The route involved skiing a combination of alpine trails, Nordic trails, snowmobile trails, and logging roads.

Have you ever considered backcountry skiing in Vermont?

Food

Just to clarify: the food at the huts did not include any lobster.

There were, however, potatoes, and, (embedded in pancakes:) blueberries.

Maine Huts and Trails

This past weekend I went on a 5-day hut-to-hut tour at Maine Huts and Trails. http://www.mainehuts.org/ What is Maine Huts and Trails Maine Huts and Trails is, as the name suggests, a collection of backcountry huts along a trail in northwest Maine, run by a non-profit organization, also called "...

5-day, 4-hut trip

This past week, I went on a 5-day tour on the Maine Hut Trail, staying at all 4 of the huts that are currently in place: Stratton Brook, Poplar, Flagstaff, and Grand Falls. I'm going to post a description of Maine Huts and Trails on the backcountry section of XCSkiForum. Here is a link to my photo a...

Re: Need help - skiing off track fields w/gentle hills

My final question is about whether waxless is really the way to go. I planned to go waxless because not having to worry about kick wax sounded rather dreamy(especially when I won't be skiing for long periods), and I thought that even though they are slower, that probably wouldn't matter for skiing ...

Re: Question about NNN-BC vs. "BC3 NNN BC"

You probably have 3 pin leather Asolo boots My memory might not be so great from the decade of the 1990s - I'm pretty sure I got the Asolo NNN-BC boots before 1995, but it would take <forever> for me to dig up my financial records from that era. But my memory is pretty good for what I was skiing on...
