Re: What is a good ski glove for touring down to 10°F?

I just received a large Swix Universal. Numbers match my hand size. But darn glove is way too big. Oh well! Joy of brick'n'mortar all closing around here. Mail and mail again... REI had 3 sizes to choose -- M L XL . I see they also have Swix Star XC100 -- in 4 sizes s m l xl

Re: Incredible race by Simen Hegstad Krüger

This forum is so dead, we shouldn't discourage taking about the races. I guess putting spoiler in the header makes sense if you remember, but how hard is it to stay away from a forum that gets only a handful of posts per day? I'm all for staying away if you haven't seen a race yet. It would be grea...

Re: Do we still need tracks?

As long as I can glide I can power and have a blast on any snow surface. I can't see how a track could help me. You mention balance? How? My glide ski might go in a slightly not-straight direction without a track but I just go with it. I'm attached. My weight is on it and I'm along for the ride. I f...

Re: Strap on a helmet and slog right in

It's a winner! Of all the obligatory insane "perspective" pieces on XC that run every year since forever this one had the most errors and of the most outrageous type. Bravo! A great start with skimming the moguls at 75mph... Now... have you seen the two mainstream replies? In my view each ...

Re: Visma Ski Classics: Toblach-Cortina

The girl in the video mentions DPing the Birkie. This would never happen, right? My impression is that skiers DP a course when it is bad and boring or designed decades ago for heavy wood skis and the wide open traffic needs of thousands of skiers. Even elite skiers are not DPing actual XC courses, a...

Re: New doping allegation: 300 XC skiers from many nations (2001-2010)

it's a big deal. i thot xc was always known to be as bad as biking. i suppose it's a lot less money so that makes it more surprising but perhaps it's more taxing on the body. ? hard to imagine xc ski compares to the stress of the Grand Tours but there ya go. i'm thinking that doping is common in all...

Re: Visma Ski Classics: Toblach-Cortina

I clicked forward thru the video of the race and didn't see any good hbone or descending. Just a lot of boring DP on the flats. Yeah, they move along, that's for sure. A valley isn't the worst place for a course, if there's pretty river, but at the same time, it is. I moused thru again and saw some ...

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

No. Not guilt. Just banned. So you believe banning innocent athletes is good? Could be in some cases. Don't know for how long. It would be a team or program or everyone working w a certain coach. Like how if a fraternity misbehaves on a campus the whole thing gets closed down because it reflects ba...

Do we still need tracks?

Why were tracks invented? Offhand, I'd think because skis were long and heavy, and boots were soft, and bindings didn't do much -- and so the whole set-up was hard to control. Are tracks still needed? Todays' skis are shorter and light with strong torsion/edging. Our boots have great sole and torsio...

Re: the latest in cold prevention?

So to fit the topic of cutting edge info I just found some new google hits on research showing that keeping the body warm reduces and prevents colds. And chills really do cause and worsen colds.

Re: What is a good ski glove for touring down to 10°F?

I just bought a different Swix glove from a different vendor and again had only 3 sizes to choose from.

I got the Swix Universal. We'll see what it's like. I miss the days of brick'n'mortar.

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

This angle of busting everyone on a dirty team might have the effect of people refusing to have anything to do with programs that have a funny smell. They couldn't say they're guilty of doping but they could be banned for being associated. You are apparently still into that false concept of guilt b...

Re: What is a good ski gloves for touring down to 10°F?

I just looked at a Swix gloves online and noticed that it comes in three sizes small medium and large. That doesn't seem like enough sizes to be a very good glove. Once again you start a thread with false info: Swix makes gloves in at least eight sizes - from what they call 4 (marketed towards yout...

Re: Russian doping? -- (try again, on topic)

That's incredible.. In a world of lies and deception, the truth seems incredible. I wonder what will happen to Sergej Ustiugov. He is not allowed to compete at the Olympics although he was never accused of any doping or manipulation. The IOC has not given an explanation. That organization is so emb...
