Re: Carbon boot weight?

bike shoes are nuts for weight, incl mtbiking. ...i recall one pair 189 grams. they're also nuts for price. it just doesn't matter at the top shelf. but in biking the tech trickles down nicely. ...i can't even find a weight for the Alpina ECK Summer Roller Ski boots. can't find weight. hmmm. (remind...

Re: Olympics Women's Team Sprint - final meters

i thot the Team gold represented their style very well.

different from a relay in that only 2 skiers went back'n'forth. a true team effort. not so common in XC but it really seems part of today's women's team culture. there's chemistry.

Re: Your best explanation of XC skiing?

"Skiing is like flying without wings. It's rhythm, gliding and payoff -- you're getting out more than you're putting in. And with XC you get all this up the hills, too, and everywhere there's snow. It's like dancing over the snow. Like ice-skating over the landscape."

HOW TO SKI W RAIN UNDER HEAVY SNOW?

Is there ANY solution that let's us ski when it's: frozen dry ground < rain < 1" heavy snow < 4" light snow + 30degF. Whew! No matter what I do or what skis I use, the wet snow underneath freezes on my skis and clumps up. Can't ski. I tried spraying w silicone and that worked best for a co...

Carbon boot weight?

I guess there are more impt things in boots than weight. I'd think that especially w classic that lightweight is impt. It's a quick tempo sport. Oh, but I'm neglecting doublepoling! Ha. It might be that for half the classic races in the USA that striding is less than 25% of the race. OK, so forget i...

Re: Your best explanation of XC skiing?

I agree that only part of the US lives where there's snow. I don't know how many -- millions. Enough. Reliable or consistent is another question. I'd say if there's a dozen times where there's 1-3" on the ground is "snow country" and "ski country." It may well be unpredictab...

Re: Importance of the "right" Wax During Olympics!

...Maybe more fair with skating only for future events, but then there are those skiers who are just much better at classic than skating so.. https://i.imgur.com/1udRRDj.gif Are you saying it might be easier to zero for waxing for skating? A bit confused. And am somewhat concerned there might be a ...

Your best explanation of XC skiing?

What's your best (quickest, shortest) explanation of XC skiing? ...That does the sport justice. Like on "Wait wait don't tell me" this weekend, the host said "I look at downhill skiing and ice skating and they make sense, they look fun. I look at xc skiing and it just looks so hard.&q...

Re: Best way to take corners in tracks?

in tracks i weight them equally.

I do what I do in biking: I lean to the inside and rotate my torso to the inside and push my hands to the inside of the corner. And I look to the exit of the corner.

Database of course profiles? (compare hilliness)

Sangreen asked about this as regards the Birkie in the other thread, but i wonder about it in general, so i'm making it its own thing

Re: Birkie hills and hilly course profiles

good point! i have no data, only a me too. i wonder what are harder courses. as i've said i prefer a course w very little DP. only briefly as a change-up. it seemed like the Oly course didn't have much DP. is there a ranked list of course profiles, elevation gain, etc., for WC and other famous cours...
