stiff tour skis for big guys?
a lot of ppl are bigger today than decades ago. I was skiing all day today w a pal who is 6'3", 220#. he is a monster fit kayaker and mtbiker. THERE IS NO XC TOUR SKI MADE FOR HIM. He squashes all of them. He is an expert fabricator and might try to make his own. ...There are FAR MORE big dudes like him today than there used to be. ...It's called a MARKET.

Re: stiff tour skis for big guys?
There are indeed skis stiff enough to fit a 220 pound person. I've had such skis when I weighed that much. It just takes a good ski shop that knows how to fit skis. Some manufacturers may not make skis stiff enough but I know Fischer does.
A don't think length matters that much. It's the flex that counts. Ski manufacturers probably don't need to make skis longer like the 220 cm jobs I skied on back in the 70s.
Fortunately, for other reasons beside ski fit, I went on a fitness regime and lost weight. Now at 175-185 life is better!

Re: stiff tour skis for big guys?
The critical thing here is TOUR ski.
I agree that any good race shop can find a stiff flex race ski early in the season, esp if you ask ahead of time.
But is there a tour ski made for heavier bigger ppl?
he'd like a stiff 210, 55-75mm. or comparable midlength.
so far he squashes all skis flat to the floor. even if he didn't use fishscale skis and tried to kickwax he wouldn't even have a kickzone: it disappears.
well, anyone know of a stiff tourski?
