Technique: Does V1 have more leg action than Striding?

Post by JeffOYB » Fri Mar 16, 2018 1:39 pm

Are the legs in V1 skating supposed to be more deeply flexing than in classic striding?

My impression of V1 skating is that the body mass should be focused over the ski in terms of the force vector if not vertically positioned over the ski. And that the knee should flex and the leg "kicks" the ski much as in Classic Striding.

I recall the old Norwegian videos showing torso, shin, knee, and ankle angles in skating, striding and herringbone -- and they all seemed about the same. ...Same with poling and upper and lower arm angles. ...But I may well be forgetting some impt nuances. And those videos are 20 yrs old now.
