Advice- equipment comparison

Postby cocoon » Thu Aug 25, 2016 12:12 pm

Hello dear friends,

I'm getting ready to race some FIS races in Oct/Nov and I am having a hard time deciding what I should do regarding equipment.
The organizers are claiming they will provide wheels (just the wheels and barrels) for all athletes who don't have roller skis from SRB.
(they might be able to provide skis, but they depend on the number of racers, etc - wheels is the only thing that has been guaranteed)

I own Marwees (skate) and OneWay (classic) with standard wheels.

The main issue I see in both situations are: 1) if they provide skis: the organizers have different ski models of skis and the maintenance is not the best. I mean, some skis ARE faster than others due to one or both factors; 2) I'm not sure wheels fit well in different ski brands.

So, I have some questions and I would really appreciate any opinion:

1) usually, do wheels from different brands (e.g. SRB in Marwees/One way) fit well?

2) any of you have had a chance to ski with SRB roller skis? How do you compare them with other more common brands in North America (marwees, one way, pursuit, etc)?

3) do you think different ski models do make a HUGE difference in a race?
(they will have for example, SR01 and SR05 for skate and CR04, CR07 and CR08 for classic)

I thank you in advance for any comments!
I'm not sure if I should simply go and use whatever is available there or if I should consider buying another pair of skis especially for these races - which would mean a huge extra expense - which might end up being useless? :(

Hello!

Yes, if they have the same dimensions.

No, I have not tried SRB roller skis.

The difference is considerable. The roller skis mentioned are training roller skis. For competitions it is more common to use something like

and
