From the great white north

Post by Tulugak » Thu Jan 14, 2016 10:19 pm

I've been a xc skier for almost fifty years. I enjoy skiing today more than ever! I was introduced to xc as a frustrated alpine skier (tired of long line-ups and high costs). I began skiing in Quebec but for the past forty years have called Nunavut and the Northwest Territories home and so typically have a long and cold ski season.

These days most of my skiing is around Yellowknife both on the ski clubs groomed trails and backcountry with my dogs. Classic is my preferred ski but I have been working on my skate technique, especially in the spring when the temperatures rise. Skate skiing is no fun at -30 degrees!

I usually get out skiing 4or 5 times a week and most look forward to long slow skis in the wilderness and to spring loppets.

I also do trail grooming for the club.

Welcome! I'm also a mostly classic skier living in Montana.
