In general the trails were in fantastic shape. In a few spots under overhanging conifers the trail was icy to almost pure ice. But in most other spots they were well covered and fast and faster. I took this whole week off to have Thursday through Sunday free for the Birkie. And for a while, with the rain and 45 degree temps last week, it looked like it had been a bad choice. I was just about ready to throw my plans to try to ski everyday out the window, whether or not the Birkie ended up being held Saturday. But after today and after reading the trail reports for Nine Mile it looks like I might get at least 5 or 6 days skiing into my week off.
