Man-Made Loop @ Hyland Lake? Bloomington, MN

Postby E365 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 2:37 pm

I remember hearing a couple years ago about a plan to make a man-made snow loop at Hyland Lake park. I do a lot of hiking there and have seen the "Ditch Witch" digging up dirt lately in the hilly section between the downhill area and the ski jump. I was wondering if they were starting to lay electrical lines or water pipes?

Any know what the plans are? Heard anything official? It sure wouldn't be done for this year, but maybe next?

I found this from the Three Rivers Park District board meeting minutes on 2 July 2009.

"Cross-country Ski Trail Snowmaking Project – Hyland Lake Park Reserve
MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE SUPERINTENDENT TO DRAFT THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION FOR THE CROSS-COUNTRY SKI TRAIL SNOWMAKING PROJECT AT HYLAND LAKE PARK RESERVE AND SUBMIT THIS DOCUMENTATION IN A TIMELY FASHION TO THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE FOR CONSIDERATION IN THE UPCOMING 2010 BONDING PROCESS."
