Nine Mile - 12/24/08

Postby JeffM » Wed Dec 24, 2008 9:47 pm

Skied this morning with T2 and Ryan.
Wausau received a good 5" of snow today after 4" yesterday. Both groomers were out. Skate lane was soft as one would expect after close to 9" of fluff snow in two days. The conditions are great from the tracks to the skate lanes.
Come out and enjoy the best trail system in WI.

We've have rain overnight and temps are in the low 40's today. It was fast yesterday but it can't be too good after this.

Trails have survived the rain and warm temps pretty well. After about 2" of fresh snow Sat night everything is in good shape.

Nine Mile 12/29 7pm

Just skied the lighted loop last night. The rain and warm temp were the best thing to happen to Nine Mile. All the snow so far this year has been fluff. The rain got some moisture into the snow and the base is now firm but not icy. As I'm writing this at 8am Tuesday morning it is snowing like crazy outside. Nine Mile should be great tonight......... Maybe time to take out the classic boards after work tonight.

Nine Mile was in great shape last night. Firm, fast surface. Lots of people in the parking lot and on the trails.

Nine Mile is still skiing very well. The tracks are glazed but nothing that a thin layer of klister won't take care of. The skating lanes are looking fine and fast. If you're in the area, get out tomorrow before the rains hit Monday afternoon.

Pretty awesome for March 1st. My son and I skied out to one of the picnic tables/shelters/fire rings. Started a fire and roasted a few hot dogs. Trails were pretty darn nice. The old Peltonens were waxed well and were fast faster.

Hah awesome. I think it's great that you stopped and made a fire. Looks like at the top of B2?

Saw you right at the end of your day I believe fishskicanoe. I passed you on the last corner before the lodge. I was skating in a blue shell with white/blue swix hat and my company had a red jacket on.

In truth the skating was a little slow but all in all not bad. The classic lanes were fairly fast on the downhills.
