I think this is the first time anyone has posted about the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center (touring center) in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.
It's one of the larger and better touring centers in New England, but is relatively unknown, probably because, unless you live in Maine, you probably have closer options. (And even if you live in Portland, Maine, Jackson, N.H. might be closer.)
The terrain is fairly hilly: probably hillier than Craftsbury, but not as hilly as Stowe or Lake Placid.
The last week has been tough on snow conditions throughout New England. Sugarloaf was able to reopen and groom a few trails on Saturday, and more trails yesterday (now 35 km open and groomed) but it wasn't until today that they were able to set tracks.
The Sugarloaf Outdoor Center also grooms a nearby rail-trail, called the "Narrow Gauge Pathway", for which there is no trail fee. The rail-trail is currently groomed and tracked.
