Anyone in the UK?

Postby Cloxxki » Sun Feb 08, 2009 11:58 am

This shop, http://www.biathlonsport.com/ , has a limited but excellent selection, and I've got quite a bit of "kit" I'd love to buy from them.

But, they wrote me, they do not export outside the UK. Very 19th century if you ask me, but fair enough. Anyone feel like volunteering to accept a package to your door, slap on another address and mail it cross the Channel?
I do this with mates in the US from time to time, depending on how our currencies work out, and availability of "the good stuff".

Or, perhaps you'll have experiences to share on this particular shop?

Cheers,

J

Hard to believe that a shop in the UK has a corner on the biathlon market. It's not available elsewhere? Like Switz or Germany?

I have a hard time finding any shop carying XXL xc suits, especially in the <EUR150 price range.
Also, The UK tends to have excellently quick and affordable shipping rates to mainland Europe, a joy to work with. let alone now that the EUR is posting strong against the Sterling.

If I wouldn't care for pricing, I would walk into a random by-the-track ski store and get a Bjoern Daehlie suit, at absolute EUR300+ retail price or a bit more. Providing they have my size.

Don't forget the Brits have a WC relay team in biathlon. My country is smaller, has 2 XC stores, but no relay team as of yet.

I was sitting on a little cash I wanted to spend, but am proud to see I did fine in Austria recently, on a bargain outfit. No toast, no chills.
Also hoping to try the Exel biathlon straps that Jacked Up Old Man seems to like. I take off poles quite often it seems, so if WC biathletes are fine with their straps, why should I have to deal with velcro staps?

I don't know if you're familiar with this store, but they generally have the lowest prices I can find. They also have physical stores in Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and it is a reliable retailer.

I wish some European stuff were available in the US. Like Adidas race suits in Germany colors. I really really want one of those.

I'll gladly help to get you one. Tell me where to buy it, which size, and which budget in EURO's. I don't see those sorts of things often in the few shops I've visited. Sometimes the odd Finnish or swedish suit.
It won't be cheap though, EUR/$ conversion, shipping, and possible clearance. We can be resourceful though.

Thanks for the tip!
Is it a bit of a fat man's suit, or do I read that wrong? :-)

I'm now thinking...I've got plenty of black tights. If I'm going for a proper suit, it will reall need to be a bit fashionable. This one looks a bit 70's Sovjet... :-)
Has anyone ever tied ice skating suits, are those warm enough?
I have plenty of ice skating shops in my country, obviously, and I could fit there.

Yeah the XXL looks like a big guy's suit. The difference between XL and XXL is one inch in height but many more inches elsewhere.

How tall are you again?

6'4", with extremely long legs and arms (no really, longer than that). Race weight 185lb or so, so not a superthin cyclist.

http://cgi.ebay.at/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... %26otn%3D4

http://cgi.ebay.at/ADIDAS-Waerme-Hose-D ... 240%3A1318

Just keep a search agent active for DSV anzug skianzug langlaufanzuf biathlonanzug, etc.

You can use my NL shipping address if sellers are wary of longer distance shipping. Now leaving for 8 days of Tiroler snow, though.
