I keep passing on offers to try one in fear of needing another bike.

Once you ride one along the river you'll never go back.

I keep eying the Salsa Mukluks at a local bike shop... one comes in screaming scarlet. Not sure where I'd keep it. I'm planning to get rid of my internally geared commuter bike because it has a harsh uncomfortable ride, but I wouldn't mind sticking with internal gears for winter. (No derailleur to clog up with ice, less chain to clean.) If they ever make an Alfine 11 version of the Salsa, my better half would just have to find a home for one of the 8 or 9 bikes that he hasn't ridden in years, and that wouldn't be easy. (He has mild hoarding tendencies)
