It is with a heavy heart that this email is being posted. No easy way to say it so, here it goes.

The Founder/Administrator/Moderator, Gregg Bernorski passed away last night while bike riding. Not a lot of details yet.

Greg had just completed his 20 Fat Tire in Hayward, WI last Saturday. He took 127 place.

He was great friend, rider and family man.

Pray for his wife and 2 young children

Wow, I am stunned. I believe he was only 40 and in great shape. He did an awesome job with this site. He will be missed.

Please provide more information as it's available.

This is awful news. :-(

(I'm sure I have a picture of him riding the Chequamegon 40 last weekend ... I'll research his bike number and find it)

that is indeed Gregg on his way to finishing his 20th Fat Tire 40.....

Funeral is Monday @ Peterson Funeral Home here in Wausau...Visitation starts @4pm...Service @ 7pm

Information as reported by the Daily Herald is as accurate as it needs to be :

TOWN OF MOSINEE — A 41-year-old Wausau man is dead after his bicycle crashed into a parked car Thursday evening, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway KK just south of Shepherd Street at 6:27 p.m.

The man hit the rear of a vehicle that was pulled over on the side of the road, Lt. Dale Wisnewski said.

The female driving the vehicle had pulled over to adjust her seat. Shortly afterward, she heard a bang and stepped out of her car to find the man.

The man was wearing a helmet and had eye protection, Wisnewski said. He withheld the man's name, pending notification of family members.

Here is another article from the local paper today:

http://www.wausaudailyherald.com/apps/p ... 00417/1981

It was a couple of years ago that Gregg and I floated around the idea of an online XC forum. From there on it was his drive and technical expertise that made this site happen. I know he had really enjoyed watching this site grow and getting to know everyone who participates. I'm sorry most of you never had the chance to meet Gregg in person cause he was a hell of a guy.

I didn't know Greg personally but I have benefited from his life. Anyone who promotes pure sport and enhances the communication between people has done a life's service. With his untimely passing I have learned more about Greg; his outlook on life, parenthood and of course efforts for this forum. I will feel the loss that many of you in the Midwest feel right now.

My sincere condolences and prayers go to Greg's family. He will be missed and remembered.

Hey guys. I am new and mostly unknown here. Some of the users may know me as a Wausau local. My name is Ryan and I have known Gregg for about 15 years and worked side by side with him for the last 10. With the loss of Gregg late last week I remembered this forum. It was the first time I had come here since almost the sites creation. Gregg came to me just before he set to building this forum with hosting and software questions and I also helped him with some of the setup and graphic work. I cycle and this winter I will be XC skiing as much as I can. That said, I will do what I can to support this site if I am needed. I already do a bunch of similar hosting and forum work. I am also willing to pickup the hosting fees if necessary.

Gregg will be greatly missed.

This morning I saw the news on Skinnyski and posted a similar thread under "General news." I missed this had been discussed under "Biking." Sorry for re-posting.

Sad news.

Jay
