Salomon RC Skins Revisited

Postby Jon44 » Mon Aug 04, 2014 5:43 pm

These skis now are available (web retailers). Given the low amount of inventory of xc skis that we've seen in the past few years, I'm feeling eager to buy either these or the Atomic Skintec while selection is good.

Has there been any additional feedback on these skis since the brief Web Skis report?

Here's feedback for anyone interested. The RC skins have an optional set of skins available for racing. Report is that it makes for a very fast ski. Interestingly, it sounds like the racing skins are not just smaller surface-area versions of the regular skins, but actually a different material that glides better.

Other feedback was that RC Skins don't have the ridiculous amount of kick that people complain about with Atomic Skintecs ("the skis keep you honest with technique" was the exact quote.)

The RC skins do have an interchangeable skin that is glued in place and can be switched using a heat gun. They are quite nice to ski on and if you're in the Vancouver area, we'll have some on our rental fleet this year.
