SNS profil classic bumper vs skate bumper

Postby SpecialGreen » Tue Dec 02, 2014 3:30 pm

I have some SNS bindings removed from a few different ski pairs: some Pilot skate, Profil classic, and Profil skate. I was told once that the main difference between Profil skate and classic was the "bumper" rubber, which the boot toe presses against. Is that correct? And if so, how can you tell a classic bumper from a skate bumper?

The classic bumpers are softer than the skate bumpers. Noticeably softer. On the flat part of the bumper where it hit the toe of the boot there is a number for skate or classic that refers to the stiffness of the bumper. Unfortunately I can't remember what numbers were used and which was which.

I also have the feeling that, of recent years (or decades?!), the SNS Profil Equipe skate bumpers tend to be red colored.
