YOKO Optigrip -- interesting take on hairies!

Postby JeffOYB » Thu Jan 05, 2017 12:44 pm

I didn't know Yoko made skis!

Looks like they're saying the WHOLE base is used for grip on the 2.0 model. The 2.1 has glidewaxable tips and tails.

I wonder what the real scoop is. I also see mention of a "rubbery" section -- like other hairy concept skis?

They're selling it as suitable for wide-range of conditions.

I note it's only available in race width 43/44 mm. ...Or what looks like a Forest Ski at 70mm and up to 250cm.

...Wouldn't the ski most commonly sold in the USA have to be a nowax about 50-60mm?

Very interesting, but still not sure what it is except that it's a coating, except by normal understanding and dictionary definition which has it as "a layer of any substance spread over a surface".

Don't know why you'd need dedicated YOKO skis for this if it's just a coating.. Image
